Default Applied for passport today

I filled out the forms online and went to my local post office. They said I had to make an appointment. The guy is holding out his appointment book and I said, "How about now? You aren't doing anything"

He said, "Ok, let me see if I can squeeze you in"

One of the girls took me into a back room and took my picures $15. Then reviewed my application, took my birth certificate, swore me in, had me sign and then I wrote a check for $67 and one for $45 (fee and pics) and she said they have been coming back in two weeks. Not too bad.

Not too bad at all! But what did the girl do to you in the back room
Or rather, what did you do

She was cute. She just led me down a long hallway, took me into a stark room where I sat on a government issue steel stool and she took polaroids of me. We chatted a little while the pics developed and talked about the upcoming cruise.

They have extended again the passport requirements until next summer. But I figured I may as well go ahead and get it. I was having a good hair day for the picture.

Too funny, same exact thing happened to me and my Girlfriend. We went to the Post office to get her passport application processed and were told that we needed an appointment. Well, we looked behind us (not a soul in sight) and managed to convice the worker to process the application right then. She already had photos so it only took about 5 minutes.

She applied on November 8th and just got an e-mail yesterday (Dec 1) saying that her passport was complete and in the mail (she signed up for e-mail updates on the state department's passport website).

You'll get an e-mail telling you they've finished processing your passport. My GF got hers within a day or two of getting that e-mail.

This is what I got on the 12th...

Quote:
We have finished processing your passport, and it has been mailed to you.

Your passport application locator number is xxxxxxx.

You requested delivery by regular mail. Passport Agencies use Priority Mail. This means you should receive your passport on or about 12/18/2007.

Did someone say the requirements have been postponed until next summer?
We have ours, but have a couple of friends sitting on the fence. I guess they can just keep sitting there

Things sound like they have really gotten better. My daughter in law applied last April and it took 16 weeks

Dave when they took you to that "back room", did they torture you or anything to make you talk about your cruises?

We did ours in October and our BCs were returned in the same envelope with our passport. Maybe it's different depending on the state.

They took me to a plain white room and shined bright lights on me, tied me to the chair and made me give up my smuggling secrets. 8)

That must be the case. When our passports arrived without the certs I called to inquire.
I was told it was for my security.

One month to the day. November 20th to December 20th. Came in the mail today along with my BC. They sent back the little picture too for some reason.

Have Passport, will cruise!
