Nice, DTW! I have experienced this also...especially if you build rapport wity someone specific at a pool bar and throw him an extra $3-$5 on your tab at the end, the freebies loosen up as the cruise goes on. Anyone else experience the same thing?
Definitely. On RCI Sovereign back in August, the wife and I lost count of how many free drinks we got because we made friends with some of the bar staff. All the drinks we got were STRONG too! We also were given a beautiful set of martini glasses to take home! I always laugh at the folks who talk about how you can't get a free drink or how tight the bars on board are with their booze. Get to know them as a people and take decent care of them tip wise and you'll do great...Same goes for room stewards as well...We were never charged for water, cokes etc. we drank in the room and he gave us some towels to take home to remember him by lol.

Default tipping bartender

When you pay for your drink, is a tip included? Do most add on an additional tip?

They will add on 15% for tips, but if for some reason you want to add to that, they do appreciate it, but its not necessary!

I'm so sorry that you had such a negative experience on Mariner. My husband and I have sailed that ship three times and absolutely LOVE it. It is a fabulous ship and I've never had nothing but the most caring, considerate waiter, assistant waiter, cabin steward, etc. They go out of their way to please you. This has been our experience with EVERY cruise on this ship and my husband and I are certainly no cruise reporter and we are still treated like royalty.

Again, I'm sorry your experience was so bad.

B&J,
Don't be bummed. We've sailed on the Mariner twice and loved it both times. We're disappointed that it's leaving Port Canaveral for the west coast. Come back and tell us about your cruise.....and in the mean time, don't take everyone else's opinions too seriously.
