I have been fortunate recently, to receive 2 books about cruising from the authors. One is a mystery set on a cruise ship, called Killer Knots, by Nancy J. Cohen, and the other is, Don't Miss the Boat, Cruising Through The Leisure Years, by Janet Go, and Perry McGiness. I have to say I loved both books:) I bet any Cruisemate would enjoy them!
As many of you already know, I collect books set in Florida, and I have read all of Nancy's previous books. This one set on a cruise ship, was just the icing on the cake, for me:)
I read it just before I went on my western cruise, and Nancy's character, Marla Shore, was sailing my itinerary on the Tropical Sun! This cruise which should have been a relaxing one, was made just a bit more interesting with her soon to be in-laws, sailing along with them. Also add in a group of employees of an Art Museum, who each received a free ticket from a mysterious benefactor, and things quickly take a turn for the worst.
Nancy is a cruiser herself, so she really takes us along on everything, we know and love, and truly, this book is a great antedote for PCD!
Her descriptions of the ship and the islands, makes for a wonderful read for all cruisers. Toss in some zany characters, and it's a cruise I wish as a back to back!!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~
Janet Go and Perry McGinnis take lucky readers along, on a 109 day day world cruise, on the Grand Dame of ships, The QE2. Their itinerary was just amazing. From the Caribbean, Panama Canal. on to Hawaii, French Polynesia, Australia, Hong Kong and more! They share tidbits from each port of call, to whet our whistle. Bad weather, bad food, & canceled tours, nothing daunted this pair of experienced travelers.
I laughed when they told of fisticuffs, in the infamous laundry room, and got some insight into the woman who lives aboard the ship, Mrs Beatrice Muller, and how that came to be. Also we get a peek into the world of dance hosts, and see how they play an important part for many women onboard. One passenger actually kept a count of how many times a host danced with each woman, and reports her findings! Can you imagine?:)
Janet & Perry have have also included great pictures along with this wonderul page turner...If you are planning a long cruise, this book will give you some great insight on longer cruises. Both of these books are great cruise reads.
Nancy has compiled a list of Cruise Ship Mysteries.. I will have to call my library and put some on hold.
