Default Do I need to book the shore exs now?

Will be sailing with RCCL at the beginning of the FEB 08,
Do I need to book the shore exs now?

The beginning of the FEB will be the Chinese Newyear Holiday,
which is considered to be a PEAK Season in Hong Kong,
And it seems that the ship will be
(already, all cabins are no longer available at RCCL's website and local TA)
very full on that particular departure.

It would not hurt. If you wait untill you are on board, the ones you want might be sold out.

Yup, even though it's a pain to pay for them right away, it beats being disapointed! We booked our Feb excursions a couple of weeks ago (South America) and more folks are jumping on the early bandwagon. On the bright side, it also lets the line know what's "hot" and they can try to add other time slots for the ones that fill up.

Sure, I'd go ahead and book the ones you really want at this point. If the ship is already booked, there is a good chance that others are already booking excursions as well.

Do I need to pay for the shore exs immediately when I make my reserevations or the amounts will be added to my onboard account?

New to RCCL and THX a lot

Hi Cruisenet,
When you pre-book excursions, they will automatically go on the credit card you use when you purchase them. Most likely, you'll have paid for them before your cruise starts. Thats if you pay your balance off before your vacation, but it will get charged to you when you purchase them, so when you board the ship, your account will start from zero.

We never book shore excursions through RCCL until we get on the ship. Yes, you might not be able to book an excursion you wanted as it might be sold out when you get onboard but if for some reason you have to cancel your cruise your prepaid excursion ticket prices will not be refunded! We found this out last fall. We were trying to get on Rhapsody and the ship was sold out. We were on standby until the day before the ship sailed. When we arrived in our room there were 2 prepaid excursions paid for by the couple who had to cancel the trip. We went to the pursers office to give them back so the couple could get a refund. We were told that we should either use them ourselves or give them to someone as the excursions are made through independent contractors and are not refundable when you cancel a cruise! We had a wonderful time with 2 prepaid excursions valued at over $300. I really felt sorry for the couple who had to cancel though and couldn't get a refund. Jeani
