Default Alaska in June

Need some advice. We booked a 7 day cruise to Alaska on Serenade of the Seas in June. Never been there before so any tips on what clothes to bring. Is it still pretty cold in June? We have a balcony room 7044. Is that a good location on the ship? Any tips on what excursions are worth taking.
Thanks for your help

We went to Alaska last June and it was still cool, but not terrible. It is always suggested that you dress in layers while in Alaksa. I would have to agree with that suggestion. It is also a good idea to take some sort of rain gear.

Take warm clothes, always can take off
Used balcony mostly in ports
Outside was to cold to be when ship is moving
Still would not go again without balcony

Have a great cruise, you'll love it

It will be cool, and down right cold when you are at Hubbard Glacier. Plan for Layers Layers Layers for clothes. It can rain too so I suggest waterproofing your jacket/coat/shoes particularly if you don't take any rain gear. I used Camp Dry that you can get at Kmart. As far as excursions, we did the glacier gardens/mendenhall glacier tour out of Juno and really enjoyed it, if you want something that is not so pricey to do. As far as shopping, Alaska is pricey on just about everything because of the shipping costs etc. Captain Stig will announce if there is any wildlife nearby. We even got to see Whales from the ship on our trip, that was way cool!

In the Inside Passage, you may well encounter daytime temperatures as low as the 50's. Also, rain is very likely around Ketchikan and somewhat likely around Juneau.

In glacier areas, you will want what folks from most of the United States would regard as winter clothing -- a warm jacket, hat, and gloves. The calving action of the glaciers provides a steady supply of ice into the bay, and ice water invariably is 32 degrees. The air above these bays is not much warmer (upper 30's is typical).

In Vancouver, in Skagway, and in Anchorage, temperatures probably will be in the 70's to lower 80's at that time of year.

Have a great cruise!

Norm.
