Default Royal Caribbean or Carnival?

I'm planning to cruise in early March to the Caribbean. I'm leaning towards Carnival's Conquest, but am also very interested in the Freedom/Liberty of the Seas through Royal Caribbean. Both are similar ports of call. I'm 27 and will be cruising by myself. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I have sailed both ships and loved them both...RCI has smaller cabins,. Conquest's shows were fabulous..food on both, we enjoyed...The promenade on the Freedom, is a neat place! Rock climbing and the skating show, are nice options on the Freedom, The ice show was wonderful, and I was surprised I would have enjoyed it as much as I did..

Pools on the Freedom are very pretty, and the aft pool on the Conquest was ideal for us.

You will have singles on either ship to mingle with, and, I think if you have sailed on one, and not the other..choose that one, you won't be sorry!

If you have sailed both lines..flip a coin..whatever you choose have a fabulous cruise!

Royal Caribbean is a better choice, all around the line is a bit more upscale and "nicer" than Carnival. It's like what hotel chain would you want to stay at for a week (Westin = Royal Caribbean) or (Holiday Inn = Carnival). I've sailed on both lines and that was my experience.

I have always said the same thing except I use the analogy of comparing a Hilton to a Days Inn. That goes not just for the hotel (ship) itself but for the clientel as well. 8)

I would pick the Freedom OTS because of the varied attractions and amenities on the ship. It is true you get a bit more of a "bang for your buck" on cabins with Carnival, but I loved the wine bar, pizza place, flow rider, and all the various bars and nooks & crannies on the FOTS. Oh hell - book a cruise on both !

Default RCL or Carnival

No experience on Carnival, but you can't beat RCL for price/value especially if you book early.

Based on my just completed cruise on the Explorer, I am sticking with Princess.

Irish Shark --> You've sailedon the Norway 12 times? That's crazy, you must really have liked that old ship. I sailed on her back in 1995 and it was seriously the worst cruise I've ever sailed on. The ship was in total disrepair and just was falling apart. Time warp on that thing. It's a shame NCL really let it go to pieces, she was probably really nice in her day (70's & 80's).

We did Carnival Destiny last summer and maybe it was just this particular ship, and not Carnival as a whole, but after doing RC for 2 cruise it was very disappointing. I will always do RC over Carnival.

I have a different opinion than most. I, myself, liked both cruise lines. My husband loves Carnival much more. It is definately a party ship. You are younger and may like that more. Especially being single. We just returned from a trip on the Mariner of the Seas and it was great...but much older and refined people....so it is all in what you are looking for.

My wife and I have been on 3 Carnival cruises. The Victory, Destiny and Miracle and loved them all. Although I can't compare to Royal...Yet. I don't think you'll be disappointed with Carnival. We just booked our next cruise with RC on the Liberty this coming May just to try something new and different. Until then I can't say one or the other. You'll enjoy either one I'm sure. Good luck.
