Default sting ray city

can anyone tell me what is the best way to go for sting ray city? I heard the excursion offered through the ship is very crowded. Has anyone tried Moby Dick or captain Marvin? I read they are good. Or can anyone recommend someone else?

I went to stingray city twice, both times booked through the cruise, and did not have a problem either time. I felt there was plenty of room for everyone and did not feel over crowded. Whether you book through the cruise line or on your own, you will be taken to the same place.

does captain marvin take you to 7mile beach? I have also read about a time change issue in grand cayman. Something about island time being an hour behind ship time making it confusing getting back in time to reboard. do you know anything about that?

I just returned, yesterday. I had booked with Moby Dick and they switched me off to Nativeway. Which was very good, but I was a little upset that Moby dick didn't even say anything to me about it.
Poor custermer service in my opinion. Otheres went on the tour from the boat and they said they had about 75 people. too crowded for me

Just back today from Voyager. I was in GC on Thursday. There were only 18 of us on our boat! Our excursion also included a land tour before going to stingray city, so no time for beach, but it was incredible and the guides were great!

I have read nothing but raves about Captain Marvins. Another option would be Captain Bryan's Buccaneer. We did this one and it was fabulous! If you would like a catamaran, that may be a good option. Also, the timing of the excursion was perfect - we didn't have to rush to get off the ship, and we got back in plenty of time to eat lunch and do some shopping. I am sure you could be dropped off at 7 mile beach if you wanted, and grab a taxi back to the pier.

Have a great time, no matter which excursion you choose.

Twice we booked Sting Ray City thru RCI on board the
Cockatoo Catamaran. It has a young crew from South
Africa and the ride over there is great. Both times the
catamaran was not crowded. Lots of attention from the
crew once you arrive..will help you "hold" the rays, feed
them of course. They will do a CD for you for extra $$
which will bring back memories once you're home.

It was one of the all time BESt shore excursions we've
taken.

We used Native Way Watersports and loved every minute of it. We did the "Reefs, Rays' and Rum Point" excursion but they have several different options to choose from on their website:

http://www.nativewaywatersports.com/

Sharon and Eldon are great, we had Sheldon as one of our guides, he had us in stitches the whole time! He is such a character, but even will all his sillyness and keeping us entertained he also kept us safe and made sure we were all comfortable and enjoying ourself. Sharon is great with communicating via email, is really on top of everything with regards to who is on which ship and which ship tenders at which time, who needs to get back and who can spend a bit more time shopping or whatever, she's super organized but in a laid back way. She is super sweet, and a pleasure to deal with and she treated myself and my daughter like rock stars when we were there!

Enjoy SRC-you will LOVE IT!!

Will try to stick a pic here from our SRC day-you can see there's hardly anyone around us-one of the perks of going with NW, they don't take more than 25 in a group and we were only 12! The surrounding ship's tours were PACKED with people.

I registered for this message board just to get this information to you--and I don't usually do that. Have cruised for several years and had always gone with the ship's optionals, but decided to get "brave" last year and venture out on our own. We made a stop in the Caymans last March and, in looking at similar boards, found lots of good things said about Soto's Cruises in Grand Cayman (www.sotoscruises.com) and you can register online. What a great trip! Small (There were only about 10 or12 or so of us), much less expensive that the ship's price, informative, friendly and helpful. They picked us up right at the dock. We stopped at the Coral Gardens to snorkel and then on to Sting Ray City. I remember laughing at the hords from the ship tours around us as we had our own private sting ray experience. Wouldn't have done it any other way! Highly recommend Soto's!!

Redshirt: What kind of a boat or catamaran did they use
to get you to Sting Ray City? Did you leave from the marina?

Lou, if you want a catamaran, the Buccaneer http://caymanislandsdiscounts.com/St..._Excursion.htm is a nice one.
