Default Loyal to Royal but want the best cruise

I have always been loyal to Royal Caribbean and I have not been sorry. I have thoroughly enjoyed the three cruises I have been on. I am organizing a cruise next summer to Alaska for family and friends, many of whom have never been on a cruise. After reading the Destinations posts, I have heard that Royal Caribbean might not be the best choice for Alaska. Any thoughts or advice? I want to make this trip great for all who go, especially the first timers.

Can't comment on Alaska. Too cold for me. RCI has some good options there though. You can't go wrong and I am sure your 1st timers will love it.

Maybe some day but when I am tired of fun in the sun. All the pics I have seen, people are wearing parkas at the pool. I want to go swimming! 8)

RCI is a great cruise line for Alaska. I was recently on the Vision OTS this past year for Alaska, and it was a great cruise. However, RCI has decided to remove the Vision OTS from Alaska (due to environmental concerns and the Vision still has older diesel engines). Look into RCI's Radiance class ships for Alaska. They are true "ships of glass and light" and do great Alaska cruises!

DTW: You can still swim on Alaska cruises, on the Vision the outside pool was filled and open, although I only saw one person actually swimming in it, and I think a polar bear may have jumped in here and there as well! The indoor pool was much more active on the Vision though.
