Default Cruise credits

Anyone know about a "processing fee" for redeeming a cruise credit? I just received my final itemized bill. The travel agency charged $105.00 per person for a processing fee. When I called regarding this, I was told it is there policy to charge the processing fee because they receive less money from RCCl. Anyone hear of this before?

RCI pays the same commission as the other cruise lines. Maybe it's time to get a new travel agent?

Thanks. This "fee" was never disclosed until I received my final bill. I have tried to have it reversed with no luck. I hope everyone asks their agent in the future if there is a "processing fee."
It doesn't sound like good business practice to hide fees, escpecially when the customer will be taking a 13 day cruise and probably will tell people not to use their agency. I checked the internet site to ensure theere is no mention of any processing fees, and there wasn't. I'll keep everyone posted as I will write a letter to the President of the Company.
So, please, everyone, ask about the processing fee before confirming.

Are you sure it wasn't a combination of port charges and taxes and fees? Or fuel surcharges? or per-paid tips?

Thanks to all who replied. No, it is not taxes, port charges or tips. They are on the bill too. I have booked other cruises through this agency in the past. This will be my last with them. Just wanted to let everyone know, they should perhaps inquire when using a certificate. And then use a different agency if there is a "processing fee." If anyone has any suggestions to have this charge reversed, sure would like to hear it. Thanks again to all who replied.
