I was watching a documentary today about freak waves. It seems they are pretty common (and not rare like scientists first thought) and do a lot of damage. I was wondering if any of RCI's ships have come across a freak wave and have any of you been on the ship at the time?
Considering the size of some of RCI's ships, how safe do you think it'd be if a ship were to come across a freak wave while you were on it?
I was on a RCI cruise in Nov 2006 and we hit some craziness that knocked us all to the floor - it was pretty violent. Our drawers flew open and all of our belongings that were in the open shelves flew across the room. The Captain called us all to the auditorium to discuss it afterward. I think (memory might be wrong on this) he said the ship "listed 12 degrees"? It was quite an experience. I haven't cruised since, but I don't think that it would keep me from doing it again.
