Carnival has the waterside, Royal Caribbean has the rock wall. Carnival has good food, Royal Caribbean has better food than Carnival. Royal Caribbean cabins start at 119 Sq feet on the old ships 158 Sq feet on the new ships, Carnival cabins start at 185 Sq feet on all ships.
It all depends on the individual and what they are looking for in a cruise.
Carnival has the water slide, larger cabins and good food.
RCCL has the rock climbing, skating etc., promenade, smaller cabins and good food.
Sometimes ports and cruise rate can help you decide which to pick.
Have fun whichever ship you choose! 8)

I've had a great time on both cruise lines. I really think most young people would enjoy Carnival more than RC. But believe me, you will have a wonderful time, regardless of which one you choose.
Other than RCCL's mega ships, they come up even. I like the layout and decor of the Royal ships. Some of Carnival's are garish, but that's part of the "party" atmosphere. You caNNOT GO WRONG.
