Elfster,
More about the $100 onboard credit. We booked through a travel agent in December 2007, for a sailing on Mariner, May 11, 2008. Nothing about an onboard credit was mentioned. How would we find out more about that?

I am Very new to cruising, but I believe port side is good (which we got for our november 2nd honeymoon cruise! ) because you are able to see the port as you come into it, that's if you have a balcony or oceanview room. Other than that, not sure of the benefits.

Port side is left but doesn't always face the port. Here is the Enchantment with the starboard side to port. Tradition often had the port side to dock for loading and unloading but that can be done from either side. It is really a matter of convenience who who gets there first.
Here is my "Minnow of the Seas" tied up with port side to the pier.
