Default Sailing on Grandeur for the 1st time

I'm new to the forum and new to Royal Caribbean. Our ship sails out of Baltimore to Puerto Rico, Haiti, Dominican Republic and St. Thomas and we are more than excited about the trip. Anyone have tips on shore excursions? How's the ship and the staterooms? We booked an inside. How's the closet space?

I just got off my first trip on board the Grandeur and I was very peasently surprised with the size of my inside cabin. What deck are you on? There was more than enough closet space... lots of drawer spaces as well. I even had a built in dresser in the closet!

I was on the cruise with kruz (my sister from another mother.. hehehe ) and I took pictures of the inside cabin that I had. I posted them in the photo gallary.

http://www.cruisemates.com/gallery/view.php?id=4372

ask away. I thought there was more then enough closet space but then I'm a light packer.

another insider from Grandeur (was with Kruz and Dina) the inside cabin was great for storage; there was plenty of closet space.

and the grandeur is in pretty good shape; I noticed newer carpet in several of the public areas; our room was very clean!

Another inside cruiser from Grandeur. I cruised with Kruz, Dina and MSBJ.

Plenty of space but we were 4 nighters. I did not even use the drawers or the closet. Lived out of my suitcase. On a longer cruise there will be plenty of space.

You will have a great time!

Thanks for the info and the pics guys. Even though there's ample space i will try not to overpack like I did on my first cruise lol. Don't have a deck or room number yet. We booked a Guaranteed inside cabin.

from the pics looks like you guys had a ball... I can't wait.

oh wait, I have another question. Does royal caribbean provide toiletries, robes and beach towels like carnival does?

Shampoo and soap, yes. Robes only to Platinum and higher or suites. I traveled solo and had two robes in my closet and never wore them. Beach towels yes.

No, I haven't had the pleasure of meeting the cruise queen. Who is she? Maybe I can search and find her on here

We did that cruise from Baltimore lasat November. We had a blast. Labadee is a great beach day. The Dominican Republic doesn't have a built up area around the pier so does need some sort of excursion. We did old San Juan, New San Juan tour in Purto Ricoc. Learned a lot but will probably walk around the city the next time on our own.

When is your cruise? We enjoyed it so much we booked it again for May 15.

Sailed Grandeur out of Baltimore three times, great port, great ship, and fantastic crew. 29 days until back on board for a two weeker! Can't wait.

Me either.

This will be our eighth time on this ship out of Baltimore. We've had rooms from an inside room on deck to to a balcony. We've had plenty of room for two for nine days in any case. The crew seems to stay pretty consistent on this ship. We've meet people in 2005 that were still on the ship last November when we were on it. If they aren't on vacation we're hoping to see them again. In talking to a couple of them we know at least one of them comes back on board on May 10 so we're excited to see them again.

We've always found the crew to be friendly and very helpful. We're big cheerleaders of this ship and the people that work on board.

One additional thing. The previous posts are correct in that there is shampoo in the showers. If you are picky about shampoo you may want to bring a small bottle of your own. I haven't found it to be the best. The drug store near us sells trial sizes of toothpaste and shampoo. I find that I do best if I get a trial size of toothpaste and shampoo/conditioner and bring it. The size is small and packs well and the quality is something I like better than what they provide.

Hi,

We were on the Grandeur last October for the 2nd time and we just LOVE it!

It's our favourite ship, even comparing it to the Voyager and Explorer which we have also been on, yes the Voyager and Explorer have ice rinks, mini golf and basketball etc.....but the crew of the Grandeur was the best we've ever had.
We still talk weekly on MSN to Samuel, who was our Asst. Waiter this past October, and while onboard we also found our first cabin steward Trevor and our first asst. waiter Onder from our first cruise in 2004, we also talk to Onder online as well.....it's just wonderful being able to keep in contact with them til the next time we see them

If you're lucky enough to see any of them....tell them Gail and her family say hello.......Onder and Samuel also work in the Windjammer from time to time, we found Onder working in the dessert section in the Windjammer, he remembered us right away.......pretty good memory for not having seen him from 2004 til 2007!

Enjoy your cruise.....I'm sure you will

Happy Cruising to us all!

Gail

Default Grandeur Inside cabins

I am Diamond with Royal Caribbean and love to sail on their ships. However, I am finding in some inside cabins, when the beds are together to make a queen, it's difficult to step around the bed on either side. They need to make the room two feet wider and that would work. What I did was seperate the beds and it worked better.

Happy Sailing!

All you need to do is mention my name and they will do the laundry for you.

Grandeur doesn't have laundry facilities that where you can do it yourself. They will clean clothes for you for a fee. I don't remember coupons in the books for it, unfortunately.

If Onder is from Turkey and worked on Explorer in 2004, we had him as a waiter and he was simply wonderful.
