i'm not sure about this partictular one......but i've done the one in cozumel. i did the dolphin swim and snorkel. you were given a life vest. you stand on a platform for the majority of the excursion, but for some of the dolphin interaction - such as when you ride on the back of the dolphin and all of that, you have to swim out a little ways so the dolphin can "pick you up". i think that if this is anything like what i did, you'll need to be able to move around in the water a little. my husband's grandmother did this with us and she can't swim. she made it though, but my husband had to drag her back to the platform once because she couldn't swim back! the water below you is deep too. if you're worried, just do the dolphin encounter.

When are you going? I went on the dolphin encounter last year in March of 2007 and had a blast. There were only six of us in the group. We stood on a platform up to our waist and were able to touch the dolphin, we got some great pictures that looked like you were holding up the dophin and a great dolphin kiss. It was the highlight of our trip on AOS. The only way to do this exursion was to book it from the ship. We did watch the other tour were you also stood on a platform in much deeper water and the people got to swim with the dolphins. If you have someone who doesn't know how to swim they would probably like the dolphin encounter better. The people who are running the tour take great pictures and you can be a CD or individual photos.

i did the one in Cozumel too!!
i would think that you should know how to swim, it may help, but we were on the platform most of the time until its your turn then its basically just doggy paddlying out to the middle of the swim rings and you have on a life jacket so you can just kind of float out there. and wait for the dolphin to pick you up.
have fun
