Default Royal Caribbean Visa Card?

I was thinking about applying for the Royal Caribbean Visa Card, and wanted to see what some of you thought about it. Do you still book your cruise through your travel agent or do you do it through the credit card company? Do you have to ask for reward coupons and then send those off? Does the program change often? How satisfied/dissatisfied have you been with it?

I've had mine since 2004. I use it to book all my RCI cruises. I also use it as my card for paying my on board bill. Whenever you use the RCI card for Royal Craibbean purchases you get double points. For all other purchases you get one point per dollar. If you use a TA, use the RCI card to book your RCI cruise. When you aquire enough points, you do have to call for your coupon and then mail or fax it to RCI. A booklet will come with your card explaining how many points you will need to buy certain things. The rules of the program have not changed since i've had my card. I am very satisfyed with the card. I only use it for cruising. BTW DW and I will be cruising in NOV. and I just cashed in 75,000 of my 82,000 points for a free companion fare worth one 7 night cruise to the Caribbean. Hope this helps.

"Do you still book your cruise through your travel agent or do you do it through the credit card company?

I always book direct through RCI, and I use my RCI Visa, of course to pay for it. That way I get the "Double Points"

If you use a T.A., tell them you want the charges on your card for points. If you don't request this, the T.A. pays RCI, you pay the T.A. and you don't get the "Double Points".

Do you have to ask for reward coupons and then send those off?

You will call the 800 # and tell them you wish to redeem what points you want to use. They will send you a Certificate for said amount. You fill out the Certificate and send it back in for the use. This takes a few weeks, so be sure to allow for the extra time before sailing.

Does the program change often?

No. I have had mine for 6 years, and the only change is when Bank of America bought MBNA (the original company). They changed the price of certain "Prizes".

How satisfied/dissatisfied have you been with it?"

Can't complian about getting "Stuff" FREE!

Here's the link to the site that answers all other questions:

http://www.royalcaribbean.com/dealsa...ocus?cS=NAVBAR

Hope This Helps.

WELL i was looking forward to this nice picturous visa card from rccl....... but..... what i didn't realize is you MUST HAVE A US mailing address in order to get one...

Unfortunately, for me I live in Canada....

So all you out there that live in the US.... I think that this Reward Program is Awesome and If you don't have one I would certainly apply for one.... I have done research on the advantages of having one... and I think that this is a sweet deal.

Happy Cruising Everyone and YOU ALL ENJOY YOUR REWARDS.

We got our card in September, now use it for everything - groceries, gas, bills, etc. The points add up very fast. We are saving for a free cruise, 7 days for two - need 125,000!!!

Default RCCL Credit Card

The wife and I are sailing in January 09 using 125,000 points for a free cruise (We pay $300.00 port charges and taxes). All went smooth calling the cruise line and having them send our certificate. It is only good for 6 months so be sure you know when you want to cruise before asking for it. We were going to get and then go 8 months or so up the road, but it worked out and we can go in January. We use card for everthing and of course points double when related to cruise.

We got ours 2 weeks before our first cruise. We used it this time to pay for our upcoming cruise in January. Great rates, great rewards! The key is to pay the balance off monthly to avoid any fees!

Great to have ! We got our RCI Card back in Jan 08 and will go aboard the EOS Jan 09 with a $400 shipboard credit. For a few years, prior to this year, we used our Celebrity Card and always had at least 300 to 400 dollars per year shipboard credit. But as someone else stated....pay it off each month so you pay no finance charges on the card. Sort of defeats its purpose if you pay finance charges This will be a great upcoming cruise for shipboard credits since RCI will be refunding our fuel Supp fee of $120 Of course we will spend it all between the shops and casino

Those reward points add up fast too! Getting 2 RCI robes this cruise along with an OBC! If a person plans to cruise often, its a great card!

I use this card for everything and pay off each month.

However, I didn't know that I needed to tell my TA that I want double points for the cruise I charged for August. (So far, just the down payment) And what about the cruise I took last April!! Why wouldn't this be done automatically?

If you used your RCI card to pay for your RCI cruise, it is done automatically. When you get your monthly statment on the first page about halfway down it will say "Royal Rewards Program" That is where you will see your points activities.
Whatever you paid to RCI with your card will be listed under "Royal Bonus Points" that is your double points. Everything else will be listed under "Monthly Royal Points". Those are single points.
BofA calculates this for you automatically no need to inform your TA to do this for you. This info can be viewed online thru BofA's web site.

Wow,
I just got my statement today, have a lot of points I should use. How many before you get a free one?? May take a few years yet, but they do add up.

If you use a travel agent. Make certain you tell them when paying with your RCI card, that you want the payment to go directly to the cruise line, not the travel agency, so that you can get the double points. That way there won't be any misunderstandings. Then, check your statements monthly to ensure you're getting the double points. Happy cruising!

On one of our cruises, I did not tell the TA it was an RC card and they put the charge through to the travel agency instead of directly to Royal Caribbean and they had to correct it. So make sure to tell them that - they know us now and I don't have to tell them anymore.

The DW and I have had this card for 6 months and that is the only card we use. We pay it off each month but everything we charge goes on it! I even have my Netflix on there.

I wish I had this card back when my son was in college. We would put his tuition on a CC just because it was so convenient. (Then paid the balance off from the college fund.) I would have loved to seen how many points a GA Tech degree would have netted us!

Seriously, we are thrilled with this card. I have not cashed in any points yet but did book and pay for a cruise on the Liberty of the Seas and put all of our on-board charges on there as well - all double points! I have not heard of anyone having issues with cashing in points so I am gonna use this card until it wears out!
