Default MSC cruise line vs RCL......avoid?

I have read SO many bad reviews of the MSC cruise line that I am not sure I want to try it. However, the pricing they are giving us for our kids is CHEAP (maybe my answer right there). We are getting an inside cabin for all three of them, with taxes and fuel, for only $1400! And the balcony cabin we are getting across the hall is only $2100 all in.

Not sure......we really enjoyed our recent trip on the RCL Liberty! Don't want to be disappointed....

What do you all think?

What do I think.....

I opened your post being completely unfamiliar with MSC Cruises.
I went into research mode and was quite intrigued with what I found.
I looked into the MSC Opera, and it sounds pretty nice.
Absolutely nothing like what we are used to but still, in that
Euro kind of way it seems very appealing!

You know what, if I took every bad review I ever read to heart,
I never would have boarded my first cruise. Some people live
to complain and can't be satisfied no matter what. YOU be the
judge of how your cruise goes and how satisfied you are.

I think a nice change of pace in a decidedly European style
just might be a refreshing change and have you walking away
saying... "Ahhhhhhh that was nice!"

If the price is right and a 140 square ft cabin doesn't send you
running.... have a terrific cruise Paul... I bet the food will be just great!

Can only offer a second-hand comment:

A friend from here in Bosque County sailed the MSC Lirica and loved it. So much that she booked another so she has done two this year.

Now I want to go and experience it myself.

I would love for MSC to come to Houston in 2010 as the rumors have them doing.

I too have heard both good, and bad about MSC. I'm going to try it for sure, as the lovely Mrs. Jones (Vita) was born in Italy, and of course, speaks the language, and loves to converse with the Italian crew when we sail other lines etc. I think the biggest difference, is probably the food selection, which is more European. I guess if you're a "Meat & Potatoes" type guy, you probably will be disappointed. If not, then I'd bet you'll enjoy MSC.

One thing to consider-how old your kids are and what activities there are available for them on MSC as opposed to RCCL.
