Default Monarch of the Seas

Anyone have a recent review? We are looking for a quick get away for a cheap price, so I know it's an older ship and not top of the line accomodations...I'm more interested in its general state...carpet worn, bedding ragged, service up to par???
Also, what will the other passengers be like...is it mostly the 20-30 yr olds wanting a 4 day drunk, or will there be a good mix of passengers?

Thanks in advance for replies : )

this ship is fine iv'e been on on it numerous times . it may be a little outdated but you'll enjoy the staff along with the food and service. personally i think its your best bang for your buck. as for age its a wide range of people. the m-f cruise is tamer than the 3-day thats where the young and older weekend warriors come out but still fun. i did twice last year and goin back in 3 weeks for $ 250.00 total level 6 inside cabin. personally dont think you can live on 250 being at home. g-luck

We just got off the Monarch last Friday. Nothing wrong with her. She will be missed when she leaves in October.

We are going next month for a quick getaway. I cruised her a couple years ago with my sister and enjoyed it more than the Carnival Paradise. I am taking my DH so he can enjoy her too before she leaves. We got our military discount booking thru Interliner and it is much cheaper than going out of town for 3 days.

I have cruised Sovereign and Majesty and will cruise Monarch when she comes back to Florida in Port Canaveral. Great class of ships and recently refurbished.

Besides, what is wrong with a four day drunk I do it all the time 8)

My mom took me and 3 friends on the Monarch 2 years ago when I was still in high school. We all had a great time. I've been on 7 RCI cruises and the service and food were definitely up to the line's standards. The ship is a little old but it's still in great shape! Happy Sailing!

DW and I were on the Monarch April 4th - 7th for the 5th time. Very clean not tattered at all. Food was great as was the service. Mixed age groups made the cruise fun. Our very first cruise was on the Monarch back in '97 and this past cruise a couple of weeks ago will most likely be our last on her. We will miss her here on the west coast. Very enexpensive and fun 3 or 4 day getaway. The Monarch is a special ship for us. By all means go and enjoy the Monarch of the Seas.

I just got back from a cruise on the Monarch of the Seas April 21 and it was great. It is an older ship but it was in great condition and the employees are very friendly. There are a mixture of people on there. I am 22 and I went with five friends that are in their 30s. Some people are there just for a big party but the majority wasn't partying 24/7. I would definitely recommend it again. It was my first cruise and it was a very good experience for me.

My recent solo was more than anticipated. Great quiet cabin (5098), great food...wonderful service and even the op's were great. This was my third on the Monarch and I am ready to do it again. All you have to do is the math...this is one of the best bargains on the west coast for a short vacation. I never fail to notice that these folks that work this ship are genuinely happy to be there. We will miss her....
