I am having the same dilemma. I have looked at Liberty of the Seas, Ruby Princess and Carnival Glory for Spring Break next year. For me and my two kids March 28th 2009.

Liberty $2941 inside on deck 10
Ruby $2430 inside lowest deck
Glory $2079 inside lowest deck or $2759 balcony

Now I would rather an inside cabin on Liberty than balcony on Glory. I think I will make a final decision after I take my Carnival Inspiration cruise in October but am still leaning heavy towards Liberty of the Seas.

Paul,

RCCL is higher then Carnival, NCL, Celebrity and Princess. It used to be Celebrity and Princess had the highest rates.

My TA says RCCL is in high demand!

Cruising from New Jersey on the Explorer on a 9 niter is $1,100. more then cruising with Princess on a 9 niter with some type of itinerary.

I'm going to enjoy my Liberty cruise and then Genesis then after that I might pick a cheaper cruiseline as college tution bills will be kicking in!
Maybe cruise RCCL every other year and add Celebrity or Princess in between.

The Glory is cheap! How involved are your kids skating, rock climbing, golf, basketball etc. Do they love that stuff??

I'm with you I rather be cheapo inside LOS then a suite on Glory!

A $400. difference between Ruby and Liberty is not good enough. I would not even think about it LOS all the way.

A $900. difference between LOS and Glory is a difference. Will your kids be happy on Glory?? I know mine would not and I'd be hearing all week 50 times a day......
"this ship is so boring"
"there is no flowrider"
"there is no skating"
"there is no Rock climbing"
"we should of went on RCCL"
"there is nothing to do"
etc. etc. etc.

For my decision:
MSC one balcony cabin and an inside cabin across the hall for 5: $3,500 with all taxes and fuel steal

RCL at least $7,000 for the same set up....

I can hear it now CQ. You are right. In the grand scheme of things, it is worth the extra money to be happy

Now Paul, I can't believe it is that much of a difference. Depends on when you go but to my calculations, a triple balcony would be about $3500 or so but a double inside should be about $2000 on my week. The 3rd person costs the same no matter which of the cabins you put them in. I saw an MSC Lirica in San Juan and looked like a nice ship but my kids would be bored with it. By myself or with a date, I would go. 8)

I had a feeling this was going to happen! Too many cabins left for my Liberty sailing. RCCL lowered the price for that sailing! RCCL is crediting my account for $336.00 8) Thanks Royal I love ya!

Well, the quote on the MSC is firm, the one from RCL was my estimate. I should note that they both included fuel surcharge and all the taxes.....

Anyhow...not sure I can afford what with:
- tuition coming my way too
- braces on my youngest daughter next year
- need new flooring on my house
- etc
- etc
- etc

Yeah I got done with braces on my older one after $5,000. he does have a great smile! And my younger one will not need braces he has great teeth!

If the kids are not into Rock climbing, skating, surfing and all that then another cruiseline would also be good.

My niece who is not into the "extras" of the mega ships has cruised on Rccl mega ships, Carnival, Celebrity, Princess, NCL and loves them all the same.

Central Park will be a fun place!

Spanning the length of a football field, Central Park will include lush foliage, quiet walkways, restaurants, boutiques, an art gallery and a moving bar.

The area also will feature concerts and street performances, providing the feeling of an outdoor space on a 225,000-gross ton cruise ship that will carry 5,400 passengers and sail from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale

Rats - they didn't like my names, huh: Secret and Mystery.....I bet the first one is Oasis, given the Central Park idea....

Now that I know about the park here are my REVISED picks:
"Forest of the Seas"
"Mowing-the-lawn-at-8:00am of the Seas"

The cabins with balconies overlooking the park look great. I wonder how the retractable roof will work-one movement or two that meet in the middle ?

Late to this tread. But I just gotta say...........

This has just gotten out of hand. Whatever happened to being on a ship at sea? Bigger in this case, just isn't better.

If I want to go to a mall, there's one just a short way away. If I want to walk in the park, there's one just down the street. If I want to see a lawn, I just step outside. I mean -- a lawn on a ship?? Come on...........!

Anything larger than the Radiance-class is just too big. If I want to fight crowds at the mall, walk in a park, or mow the lawn, I can do all that right here, and not spend thousands doing it.

I want to sail the seas. Feel the wind in my face. See the Southern Cross.

John Masefield said it best:

I must down to the sea again, the lonely sea and the sky,
and all I ask is a tall ship, and a star to steer her by

Genesis is not a ship for everyone that is for sure. For myself Radiance class is too small!
It is great that RCCL lovers can pick the size ship that suits them best Genesis class, Freedom class, Voyager class, Radiance Class or even smaller.

I have not seen a "mall" on any ship yet. Of course I hear the word mall I think Macy's, Bloomies, Lord and Taylor, Neiman etc.

Maybe Genesis will have a Lord and Taylor in the Central Park area!

Default I wonder....

...if there will be birds that decide to nest in the park! Maybe a squirrel or two to hop around on the trees. Or...better yet...a "ship dog" that can run around the park licking friendly passengers! oh..except for the poop...bady idea.
