Default Anyone see the Central Park theme on Genesis?

There's a picture over on Yahoo's main page under the AP section. They give a better description of what's on the ship than what's posted here.

If anyone wants to see the photo, let me know. I saved it. It's pretty cool. And the balconies overlook the central park theme on the inside of the ship.

Think of the hotels that have inside foliage tropical settings. It's sorta similar.

I saw it! Plus, I got the e-mail a few minutes ago from C & A Society. Very innovative. Can't wait to see it finished!

Don't care for it I cruise for the feeling of being at sea. Show me the pool areas, a pool deck at the stern and an outdoor wrap around promenade deck and then I will get excited about it. Not too excited about cruising with 6,000 peeps either.

I would never, say never, but, boy, I want to cruise, to be at sea, and feel that, not to be in a park at sea......If Cruisemates did a group cruise, then I would do it.....

I agree Dave. I know they'll fill that area up with tables full of "gold by the inch" and "cheap watches" anyway, so between that, and the 6,000 people, you won't be able to walk through there anyway. Give me the smaller ships, with the GREAT pool areas.

DTW...you might want to rethink your premise..there would be 5,999 cruisers cheering you on at the belly flop contest...more bars for you to practice your Austin Powers line on innocent young ladies ::

I agree with you, if I wanted Central Park, I would go back to New York..I think the more they build these mega ships..the more season cruisers will start to gravitate towards the smaller ship

the one exception of course, is if it would be a full charter theme smooth jazz cruise...I could go for hanging out with 6000 jazz fans

Venice,

I will interested to see what else they have in store. I really think it too big but we will see. Bigger is not alwyas better

I think it will be too impersonal. You won't have same opportunites to meet your fellow cruises as all will get lost in the crowd. There will be too much to do that you can't possible enjoy it all anyway. It will be interesting to see what the fares will be like. If they are comparable to other 7 night cruises on Voyager or Freedom class. With each new and bigger ship they are finding extra ways to charge for more things. That is Ok with me though if it keeps the fares down. I still will not pay extra to eat dinner or for special coffees or ice creams. My tab on the last two cruises consisted of bar tabs, tips and the Cruise in Review video and that is it.

From what I've seen, I honestly think it looks a little tacky. I wouldn't want a balcony stateroom that overlooks a fake park in the middle of the ship. Like others have said, I cruise because I love the ocean and the feeling of being at sea.

I'm not completely sold on this yet. My family wants to try it out though so only time will tell.

I agree with Tauruschick...I want to sit on my balcony and watch the water go by. Or...when in port, see the area. I wouldn't want to be sitting on the balcony only to look out and see someone else on their balcony looking at me. I think you lose the whole point of being on the ship. The park does look cool to walk through. I'd like to see what the other "neighborhoods" they have in store will be like. Maybe there will be enough so that 6000 people will have enough room to go so we won't feel crowded. We'll see....

Yes, it appears the CP is about 60 feet wide. So everyone across from you will be looking in your cabin. Kinda takes away some of the thrill of "doing it on the balcony" or maybe not....

Speaking from personal experience Dave? (eg)

I think the balcony overlooking the park these also has a balcony that overlooks the water as well? So there are 2 balconies in your room? If read the article again right that is. Big(er) rooms????

I would think it would be similar to the promenade cabins on Voyager and Freedom class ships. Moving forward on the port side of the ship: balconies to the sea on your left, balconies to Central Park across the hall to your right. (and just the opposite if you are walking down the starboard side of the ship).

Not sure how a cabin could have a balcony on both sides...where would the corridor be for a person to get into their cabin?

No, the cabins will not be that wide. The CP is 60 feet wide and the ship maybe 150?? That would leave 45 feet each side with a hallway of 5 feet so cabin including balcony about 20 feet deep. These are estimates.
