Default Money exchange

I have never been to Europe/Mediterranean...so I have no idea about money/euro's. And I leave in 36 days...

When/where should I exchange our currency into euro's? I know the ATMs charge a fee... Is there a second fee for just changing it on the ship?

Any other suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

Hi!
Don't worry about that the ship purser can accommodate you before you go out for excursion. Every places accept credit card.
Have a nice cruise. MTL

If you need a large amount go to the main branch of your bank and you will get the best exchange rate. If you need a small amount you can do it on the ship. The exchange rate may not be as good and there may be a fee. For large purchases use your credit card and they will handle the exchange rate.
Have a great cruise.

We are going to Australia later in the year and wondered the same thing. Check with your credit card before making purchases; I've read some charge as much as 5% for any foreign transactions.

One of the other message boards mentioned Capital One credit card has a 0% fee for foreign transactions.

When we go to the Caribbean we usually tip our waiters etc. U.S. cash, is this exceptable in Europe??

I believe any institution doing currency exchange will charge some type of fee, so it's best to check first.
We try to tip in the local currency but if you use dollars you need to make sure you give the same rate as the euro or pound which are worth more.

We now have Capital One but our previous credit card company charged a nominal fee, 3%, but it capped at $10 for the whole trip.

CC, my bank has a service that will do it. Just check with them and ask. I am going to exchange before I go so I don't have to deal with it there.
With my bank, you order it online and tell them which branch to ship the currency to, then go pick it up the next day. Seems too easy. I will find out in 3-4 weeks when I request this.
Have too much fun! Don't wear out the ports of call.
