Default What to do - Coco Cay and Nassau

Heading out on the Sovern on July 6. Should we book shore excursions through RCCL, or should we just do things on our own. We enjoy snorkeling... Any advice would be appreciated.

There's not a ton of things to do on Coco Cay, but snorkeling is one you want to do. You go in right from the beach and it's beautiful clear water, some shallow and some deep, and you definitely see tons of fish, crazy looking fish, and also rays. We booked the excursion through RC but they have a ton of gear so you can most likely walk up, pay, and snorkel. You can snorkel the entire day, no limit.

In Nassau, you can swin with the dolphins, take a cab over to The Atlantis Aquarium, do a city tour, shop on Bay St. ..don't miss the John Bull Store....visit the straw market. I really enjoy Nassau...enjoy!

When in Coco Cay, you'll need to book through the cruiseline since its their private island. Snorkeling is very good there. Be sure to eat the BBQ lunch they serve on the island. Its a great beach day, enjoy it!

Can I get a floating mat on CoCoCay if I want too, or do I need to reserve through the excursions?

Heading out on the same cruise destination as well but leaving July 26. We too like to snorkle and also wondered about booking privately or thru RCCL. So will look forward to the answers you receive. I also hope that you post your cruise experience when you get back so that we can get your opinion! Can't wait for you to go! best of luck, keep you posted. K

Hi Vegas,
Yes, you can pre-reserve a float mat, actually a good idea. I loved having one for the day.

How would I go about reserving a float mat? Is this done prior to sailing
or do I wait until I am on board?? Do you remember the cost??

Hi Sherrie,
You can pre-reserve a mat, cost around $10 for the day. You would need to go to the Royal Caribbean site and go into "shore excursions", it should be listed.

Thanks Donna - will definately do that - I have been wanting to try snokeling so this will be my chance. Brought all the equipemnt along
for our Panama Canal cruise in Jan. '07 but the waters were too rough
those port days - so the stuff went back to the store. Maybe I will be lucky this time around. I assume you can rent the vest and fins but
I will bring my own headgear. Thanks again.

Yes, you can rent a vest and fins right there on the beach.
