Default Getting to the pier??

Well we're leaving this Saturday on the Liberty of the Seas and my wife is getting a little nervous saying that we should have bought the transfers from the airport to the pier. We're flying into Ft. Lauderdale. So we can either take a taxi, (what I thought we had planned) or is there any other means of getting there? I think she's worried about traffic and the boat leaving us behind. Any suggestions? or just stick to the taxi. thanks

Oh for sure, just stick with the taxi's. The airport and the cruise port are right next to each other, should take about 10 minutes or so depending on traffic, much faster than using the cruiseline transfers and there will be plenty of taxi's. Tell the DW NOT to worry.

We're flying into Ft. Lauterdale and the ship leaves from Miami. I should have said that originally. More than 10 minutes right Donna?

You will be fine. My wife and I did the same thing a few years back only we paid for the transfers. Had I known what I know now I would have taken a taxi or paid for a shuttle bus. They are much cheaper than paying for the transfers.
Also if you are flying out of fort lauderdale make sure you have a later flight. We learned that the bus from the miami pier will not leave until it is full. We waited for 2 hours on the bus to leave the pier and barely made our flight. It would have been way less stressful if we had just taken a taxi both ways.

Ok,
That makes a HUGE difference....I don't think I'd take a cab, may-be another type of limo service or shuttle that would be less expensive...I would also check into the price of the cruiseline transfers since you are talking about cruising out of Miami, but flying into Ft. Lauderdale, worth checking out.

The shuttle from FLL airport to Port of Miami is right outside the baggage claim atra. It is about $20 pp.

Ok thanks. It wasn't a money issue. I kind of wanted to avoid the whole waiting for the transfer bus to fill up. I want to get off the plane, jump in a cab and go. When you say shuttle is that like a small shuttle bus? or just another term for taxi?

That depends. Once it was a small bus, last June it was a town car (just the two of us) - How many people are waiting seems to be the deciding factor.
