Default Driving to the port

Has anyone driving to Port Canaveral found long vehicle lines before the cruise? Last year in Sept., we were in line 1 1/2 hours just to off load our luggage. One of the people directing traffic said it was like that every Sunday. We are trying to decide either park at the terminal or park off premises and get a cab or shuttle to the port and bypass all the traffic. Any thoughts on this plan? Going again this Sept. and want to start our vacation on the right note.

I have only been to PC once but we got there early enough where we drove right up to the pier, unloaded the car and parked within 5 minutes. We always get there around 11 am. That way if you are lucky, you are on the ship before noon enjoying the lunch. I also like watching the people who get there at the last minute scramble to get on the ship.

Yes, we have sailed from Port Canaveral, FL 4 times, and there has always been traffic. We beat the traffic by arriving to the port early (11:00AM or earlier). The one time we got there after noon we had to wait a solid 45 minutes.

Personally, I would still just drive your own car to the Port because it is much more convienient. Sometimes halting down a taxi is a bit of trouble, but then you have to worry about the $$$ for fares and such!

We got to Port Canaveral around 3pm for our last cruise and there wasn't much traffic to drop off baggage.

We got the port around 10:30 am and there was absolutely no traffic. I dropped luggage and family off, parked in the garage and we immediately walked in.

We could not get a flight to MCO so we flew to Jax, rented a car, drove to PC and arrived about 11am. Parked right by the ship and walked aboard. Must be the time of day.

Pretty much in agreement here.. we arrived at Port Canaveral around 11am
and there were no lines at all for vehicles.

We may be using a car rental to get to PC - are the car rental companies
nearby?? I would think they also provide some type of shuttle service, hopefully.
