Default Legend - Italy, August

Hi! My family and I are scheduled to cruise out of Civitivecchia on August 16. We'll be doing the 13 night Italy/Croatia sailing.

I am wondering if anyone has gone on this sailing before? Were there lots of American families? European ones? I have a 6 year old and a 12 year old, and I'm hopeful that there will be other families with kids on board - it makes things a lot more fun!

I'd love to hear what anyone has to offer about the ship or the sailing. We cruise a lot, but have not done a Med cruise before.

Thanks so much everyone!!

We did a Med cruise about 4 years ago on Legend and had a great time. There were lots of American & British families on board so you should have no problem finding other kids for your kids to play with.
It can be quite hot in that area at that time of year (90s ) so be prepared for that.
Hope this helps answer some of your questions.
Bob

You probably will encounter a lot of families with children on that cruise, as schools in many several states, generally in the Northeast, are still on summer vacation.

That said, I'm sorry that nobody advised you against going to Italy in August and as I lament the fact that you are probably past the deadline for final payment. The weather is so hot and humid that many businesses close for the whole month and the people who operate them go up into the mountains to escape from the heat and humidity in the coastal cities. Many of the tourist sites will be open, but not much else, during your cruise.

Be sure to drink lots of liquids to prevent dehydration while you are ashore!

Norm.

My wife and I did med cruise last year on Splendour of the Seas. The passenger count was 40% american, 40% british, irish, scottich, 20% european. There were kids onboard, and my wife and I commented about how is was so neat to see the kids parading around the cruise ship everyday; they were doing their thing with the counselors. One night while we were sitting in the schooner bar; here comes a bunch of kids dressed a pirates; singing pirate songs as they marched thru the bar enroute to the other side of the ship. The weather will be hot; the Legend should be fun; it's not too large but they have enough space that you won't feel crowded.

Thanks for the responses, guys!

I've been to Italy many times - I know it will be hot and sticky! We're ready!

I work for a very large travel company and we get great deals, but it usually means going when it's HOT in Italy or COLD in Ireland.... but we tend to have fun anyway!

I'm hopeful my kids can make friends with some Continental and Brit kids, that's most of the fun!

Thanks again! You guys ROCK!
Melanie
