Default Found out my booked cruise will be dry docked

Hi, Feeling really bummed-my travel agent called today and told me the cruise I booked in Jan with my 2 sisters and mom from another state is not sailing. Ship is dry docking then. So what happens---do they compensate us for having to change schedules, airflights , etc.

Has anyone experienced this --- help I'm freaking out---I only had 114 days left before sailing----

Default cruiseline cancelled

sorry to hear about the news. You know what they say, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade; it will all turn out; maybe better than before. There must be a good reason this happened. Hang in there and the good will come out of this!!

What a pain in the neck that is...

That happened to us as well a couple of years ago.

You might want to see if any other RCCL cruises are leaving Boston, maybe a couple of days before or after your scheduled time.
If not, RCCL will just transfer the money you have already booked from the Jewel of the Seas to another cruise of your choosing.

I am a bit confused.....The Jewel, has a repo cruise from Boston, to Miami, I was booked on it, on October 28th. It is then doing Panama Canal cruises. The site shows all dates in January, for the canal.

That is sad news. U mentioned your travel agent called, have your agent contact RCCL and see what they can do; also have your agent work on getting airfare refunded, or use airfare on a different date. Sorry that your cruise was ruined.

I don't think OP is talking about the Jewel. She is in dry dock in October. The only ship I know of going into dry dock in January is the Navigator. It was a planned dry dock though. I think the only change was a couple of short cruises were shifted/canceled to accommodate a dry dock one week ahead of the scheduled dry dock.

Unless there are other changes recently I am not aware of.

We're sailing on RCCL's Jewel at the end of September, so it looks as though we're just missing the dry dock.

Jim, we both need reading class. .

I re-read the OPs post. I think OP meant the he booked the cruise last January.
LMAO

114 days is the October cruise.

Jewel is in dry dock from Oct 18-23 (something like that).

a post on the other cruise message board indicates that the jewel is scheduled for drydock on oct. 13th and will miss that 5 day cruise. we too are set to sail on repo from boston to miami on oct. 28th. have not been contacted by anyone as of yet so hopefully we're still going. tried to contact rccl directly but they told me i had to go thru my TA to contact them about the reservation, etc. we have trip insurance so i'm not too worried about losing $$$. also, we've yet to make final payment and have only paid the deposit - have until the end of august for that.

The Jewel of the Seas October 18 Canada / New England cruise is the one that is cancelled. There is compensation and a couple of options being made available to those affected.

She is going into drydock [unscheduled] to repair a damaged diesel generator set. There was a failure back in early May.
