Default Concierge Lounge, is it worth the price?

If you book a grand suite or above you have access to the concierge lounge. My question is: does the lounge warrent the extra price of a suite, instead of booking a junior suite? I know the junior suites don't get concierge privlideges, and I am not a diamond member, so can someone tell me or convince me if the extra money spent on a suite that comes with the concierge lounge is worth the extra money. If not, then should someone book a junior suite instead? Thank you for any and all replies.

Not worth it to me. I get the Jr. Suite.

I just looked at a cruise and the GS is $1000 more than a Jr. Suite. Nope, I'll pass.

That's a new one on me. Never heard of it. I'll check the RCI site to see if they mention anything about it.

If it is a big difference in price then I don't think it is worth it. The lounges are nice though both of them. Drink all you want.

I cannot find anything that even hints that you can buy your way into the Concierge Lounge.

thnks for the replys, There are some junior suites available for my cruise and the price is about $1000 difference. Money is not the problem, I don't drink, I was looking to use the lounge as a meeting place, and use the concierge to help out. However; $1,000 dollars is still a lot and with the extra money in savings I can buy all my shore excursions

well, maybe. except that i went into the Concierge Lounge with said person. who did NOT have a suite. his room was smaller than mine. and yes, he used his card to get into it, he did not just follow someone in.

I also love the perk of having the lounge(s) for suites and "Diamond" members. Shouldn't be the only reason you are spending the extra money though. We have "GS" on two of our next four cruises and rarely have a beverage of any kind in the lounges. We especially like them on transatlantic (reduced prices) or laid back itineraries where we do spend more time in the cabin. Obviously it's not for everyone but it can be a nice splurge. On one run, they opened Portofino's at breakfast and lunch JUST for "GS" and above to have private dining (same menu as the main dining room but fantastic service). We think they may have been testing it out but I certainly gave it rave reviews on my comment card.

I have said it before, we have cruised in closets and suites but at this point in my life, it is nice to indulge!

I think it's well worth it. First off the cabin/room is so much nicer and bigger and space does matter to me. Like that I can go and get a drink and sit and hang or bring it back to my room. Also, have an app and enjoy sitting with others.

Also, they do take care of anything you need right there on the spot..they are like your own personal butler. so to speak. You can also get free movies and free music cd's.

ok, so now maybe I am leaning towards getting the suite and having the lounge available. Oh well, I still have time to change my mind, but I really appreciate the feedback and info. It really helps writing to these boards and hearing from people who have actually stayed in the rooms and have used the lounges. There is harmony in all that you say and I am grateful.

Cheers,

Having Diamond status for the first time, I really enjoyed the lounge on the Adventurer of the Seas last September. Didi is a great concierge hostess. Has anyone ever met her? What a great person. Bob

Default Suite price worth lounge use

I think that if that is your only reason for spending the money for a suite then no. But if it is for a special occassion to pamper yourselves and you have the money go for it. There are other hidden perks to a suite then the lounge use. Have fun enjoy the extra room and invite friends to see the suite whne they serve you your treats in the room.

I understand that the GS has a larger balcony than the OS. Does anyone have info on this. The booklet shows the dimensions and the GS is supposed to have the larger balcony.

We were on the "Navigator" in an "owner's suite" and the balcony was HUGE. You might have looked at the Radiance class where the "OS" have a smaller but more private balcony area.

I think the GS is a DOUBLE Balcony...as in two slider doors and double everything that is out there.

I had an OS one time and had access to the Concierge Lounge. It is a nice perk, as are the other suite benefits. Are they worth the additional $$$$ you pay for them. I would say no, unless the cabin and the cabin amenities are the MOST important thing for you. If they aren't then I would go for the JS.

Take care,
Mike
