Ok, this has been messing with my common sense for a while.
It's time to put this mystery to rest.

The Carnival Glory is a 110,000 ton ship with a 2974 passenger capacity and 13 decks. It has 12 - 14 elevators.

The Royal Caribbean Freedom of the Seas is a 160,000 ton ship with a 4,370 passenger capacity and 15 passenger decks. Specs state 4 elevators.

HOW CAN THIS BE ????????????

Please someone put my mind to rest about this before I go nuts!

OK... Suz is looking at me like I'm from another planet.
So I put my brain into turbo mode and have concluded that:
Royal Caribbean specs are vague and really pertain to 4 BANKS of elevators
possibly with 3-4 elevators per bank for a total of 12-16 elevators.
This has to be what they mean.... surely they can't expect 4000 passengers
to get where they are going on 4 elevators.

Ok... I'm rambling... this is what happens when retirement takes hold of your brain.
Forgive me....

(Is my theory correct?)
(The theory about the elevators... not my brain)

Yes, there are 4 elevator banks, with 5 or 6 elevators in each bank.

Looking at the deck plan, I get 14 elevators. 6 forward and 8 aft.

Just sailed on this ship, 4 banks and each bank has 4 elevators (2 glass / 2 inside). 4 x 4 = 16

Myself i try to use the stairs as much as possible, to work off all those meals. those it is nice to have elevators when in a hurry, but then when on vacation i am not in a hurry much of the time.

I think "Mariner" must have only had about 3 or 4 elevators. The lovely Mrs. Jones (Vita) and I were on a "mid" deck, and the elevator was ALWAYS full when the doors opened on our deck. As a result we wound up walking up and down most of the time. I think with that many passengers aboard, they could use a few more elevators. Just my opinion.....
