Did Royal charge us enough for pre-paid gratuity?

(I posted this under "Tipping" also, but that board doesn't get looked at much)

There are 3 of us in one cabin, 4 night/5 day cruise. Travel called me to say he added the pre-paid gratuity (which I asked for). He said my cc would be charged $117. I said ok. Afterward, I thought about it and it seemed it should be more. I called him back and he called Royal again and then called me back and said that Royal said the correct amount for the 3 of us is $117.

Is that the right amount? He said they are charging the 3 of us $39 a day.

$117 is correct.

That would be correct if it was a 3 day cruise right? 3x$39=$117

Here's a dumb question... when did the gratuity go up to $13 per day? I thought it was $10 per day. At least it was the last time we cruise RCCL a few years ago.

WhenI go to RCCL's website it lists the following " guidelines""

Suite attendant: $5.75 USD a day per guest
Stateroom attendant: $3.50 USD a day per guest
Dining Room Waiter: $3.50 USD a day per guest
Assistant Waiter: $2.00 USD a day per guest
Headwaiter: $.75 USD a day per guest

It is 9.75/day/person

4 nights * 3 people * $9.75 = $117

The $5.75 is for suites. Regular cabins are $3.75. You also have the cabin steward listed twice.

Twice:
Suite attendant: $5.75 USD a day per guest
Stateroom attendant: $3.50 USD a day per guest

Thanks! I just cut and pasted that from RCCL's website. I just could not figure out how $39 per day for three people for a 4 or 5 day cruise could equal $117. Plus I just cannot focus today.

It makes a lot more sense now that someone with a clear mind explains it.
I guess when we cruised RCCL previously I must have just mentally rounded off $9.75 to $10.

Thanks! I couldn't figure it out either. (I still can't!) I thought it should've been more, but I guess I was wrong! :-?

I just didn't want to not 'tip' enough.

Tips

For a none suite type room it is:

3.50 per day for waiter
3.50 per day for cabin steward
2.00 per day for asst. waiter
.75 per day for head waiter

That is 9.75 per day x 3 (people) x 4 (length of cruise) = 117.00

Hope that helps.

About a week late.
