Default Price Dropped.. I paid more.. Now what?

Am I stuck?

I just noticed a cabin / catagory price drop on the cruise that I'm booked on.. Should I call RCCL and ask what's up?

Call your TA and let them know that there was a price drop. Hopefully you can get an onboard credit.

Call your TA right away!!! Royal is very good that way! My price dropped twice already and both times they credited my acct the difference.

My TA said that only Royal does this no other cruise line. (I don't know if this is true or not this is what she told me) Even after final payment is made Royal does credit your acct the difference.

Yet another reason to love Royal!!! 8) 8)

Royal credited our credit card after we called. It was over $500!

I am not sure if all lines do this, but also Princess does this.

CQ - Princess will give you an onboard credit if you catch a price drop after final payment. But you have to stay on top of them for this.

Royal - You need to check the catagory your room is in. For example, if you booked an oceanview Catagory I, check another cabin in that same catagory to see if the price dropped.

Royal if there are no GS available then there is no price drop.

Example....
I booked a Q Quarentee I booked it at $799. a few weeks ago. When I went back to my TA website the Q Quarentee was $749. I went back in the other day and it is down to $699.
There are Q's available so the priced dropped twice already.

Depends on the sailing how weak the bookings are and if there are GS still available. Sounds like on your sailing there are no GS left.

Hope this helps

No, I booked through my T/A........but I check on line at the website for RCCL...otherwise, I would have to keep calling my T/A everyday to check.

I just went into the RCCL website and my cruise is priced the same as with my agent.

If the GS cabins are showing up N/A then there would be no price drop because there are no cabins left.

Not sure when you are sailing or what ship? You might be on a busy sailing.

I have noticed in the past when the price drops start to happen there are many cabins still available.

Here are prices for your cruise! I don't see the GS available.
I went into RCCL website and I see the GS is N/A. If I were you I would keep checking the RCCL website to see if a GS opens up and if the price is lower then what you paid.
I don't know how many GS cabins are on the ship I'm thinking not many so your chances might not be good for a price drop.

Cruisequeen, just wondering if maybe things have changed . . .? The reason I'm asking is because I'm a diamond member w/RCCL, but have understood that UNLESS you booked through RCCL, if the price dropped after the final pymt., you are out of luck. Our next door neighbors got stung twice on balcony cabin drops after final pymt. when they could not get adjustments. This even led to an argument w/a very good T/A and they ended never using him again. Additionally, often the lower prices come out w/designations "for new bookings only". Have you rec'd. reductions despite this designation, and when you have NOT booked through RCCL? I fear making final pymt. on our already booked So. Am. cruise because I know there were some fabulous bargains last yr. within 5or 6 wks. of sail dates on many different lines' So. Am. cruises.

MLB,

Unless things changed from 2 weeks ago but I did already receive two price adjustments after final payment was made. I never book thru RCCL I use my TA.

If you have a good TA keep an eye on the rates and if it drops call your TA he/she then calls Royal and they issue you a credit.
I prefer Royal credits my acct then put the credit amount on the seapass card.

I'm sure there must be some TA's out there that don't want to do this because it is work for them they now have to pick up the phone and make a phone call to Royal.

I have had credits given to me after final payment was made on several cruises.
Royal is very good that way.

If you have a good TA it should not be a problem. Keep on top of the rates for your sailing.

I agree with thecruisequeen. Your TA may not know how to do this or if it is even possible. Make sure to tell them it is possible and that they should call RCCL. They may also be unwilling to do it because it lowers their comission. This is usually the problem. A good agent will do it without even being asked. They want their customer to get the best vacation for the best price. They depend on the repeat business of this client and referrals from them. Agents at big online agencies may have quotas to fill and also do not reap the benefit of repeat clients. They have your money and why should they give up comission now. They already made the sale and moved on. PLEASE insist on it with your TA. They work for YOU!!!

Good information. I know it is a pain in the neck to keep up with the ever changing prices but it can save you lots of money if you do. Bob from CT

Just so you guys know; I booked directly with RCCL, not with a travel agent. My person at RCCL said that the price I paid in the catagory was still less than what the current rate decrease was.

This cruise will be a cheap one I better book another one!
