I am on a company paid trip which I won due to a contest. My husband and I both smoke. The room booked is a non-smoking room. I asked the travel agent for an upgrade to a room with a balcony so that we can smoke. The travel agent wanted 330 per person for an upgrade. The upgrade is more than the entire cruise price. Is this normal? What can I do? Should I contact the RC by myself? Are there upgrades available when you check in? We are booked on deck 4 category F. But do not know what room yet. Where would be the closest smoking deck? Any Advice is appreciated.
zYou can go up to one of the upper outer decks, pool deck and they will have one side that you can smoke on. Just look for ash trays on tables.
Yes, it does cost quite a bit to move up to a balcony cabin. How soon is the cruise? Sometimes, you can move up for less the closer you get to cruise time. Keep in mind that the balcony cabins do book the first, so there may not be any to move up to.
Congratulations on a great win! Which ship? If the price for an upgrade is more than the cruise, it sounds like you're going on a 3 day cruise. If so, those are usually on older, smaller ships which have limited balconies. If it is for a 3 day cruise, I don't think the extra $ for a balcony would be worth it. Most likely you will be up on deck except to sleep and get ready for meals/excursions. Like Donna said, you will have to go upstairs to smoke. On the pool decks I believe it is the Port (left side) that is smoking. Enjoy!
