Here is a good story about hurricane season cruise travel. The passengers aboard the Carnival Miracle were crowed at the guest relationd desk chanting REFUND. And there was talk about not paying gratituites to the crew. The one thing about cruising during hurricane season is that you need to be flexible. I can't imagine that they would have wanted the ship to sail in dangerous waters... I guess you can't please all of the people all of the time
Is it just me or is every time I read a story about a passenger "uprising" onboard a cruise ship, it's a lawyer that somehow is the instigator?

I'm sorry, I have zero sympathy for anyone who decides to "complain" about sailing on a cruise in HURRICANE season?!?!? There is a huge reason "why" all the cruise lines reduce their fares during these months and why they get raised during the December through April period -- WEATHER! If you're will to accept the price reduction in your fare; then you better be ready to deal with any effects that may occur if a hurricane comes along during your cruise.
I sailed on Soverign of the Seas last weekend and we had to miss CoCo Cay because of the affects of the hurricane; for me it was like - so what; there's a reason why I only paid 350 bucks for the cruise.
OK, you have to remember that these are usually the same folks that are in an airport demanding that a flight take place in the middle of a huge thunderstorm. They have no general regard of understanding of Mother Nature or the good Lord (depending on your beliefs) but I for one do not relish putting my life or others in jeopardy just to fulfill my wants.
Most certainly it is a HUGE letdown when a hurricane screws up a cruise. I would not be happy at all. But is that the fault of the cruise line??? Not the last time checked with the Man above. If you don't want to endure the possible issues with hurricanes, do not cruise during those months. Hurricane season cruise rates are historically low (and you wonder why? DUH...). I guess certain folks (as someone said usually led by a lawyer... sorry to those good lawyers) are bound and determined to never take responsibilities for their own acts. It's always some else's fault. "It's the cruise lines' fault that the hurricane interrupts my vacation so they owe me a refund." Yeah... right.

“Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth you'd probably be able to get a lot of free games.” ~Jack Handy
I agree with other posters, tis the hurricane season, the cruise line & staff cannot control the weather.
Myself, I could care less - still on a cruise ship on the beautiful ocean and not at work!
My thoughts exactly. I'd rather be on a ship to nowhere rather than at work! When we booked our cruise in October we knew going into it that there may be itinerrary changes. I think a part of the discourse is tributed to the "crowd mentality"...jumping on the band wagon. I guess the sad story here is that passengers were talking about witholding gratuities, like the staff was responsible.

All I can say is wow. It is amazing to me how grow people can act so childish. I can understand their frustration but come on now. Do you really want the captain to sail the ship into an area where it will put everyone in harms way as well as possibly hurting someone. I think these people should be blacklisted from that cruise line or any cruise line. This type of behavior is unacceptable.
