Default EOS Grand Suite #1264

I'm booked for a 5 night cruise next month on Explorer of the Seas (RCCL) in GS #1264. Was wondering about any noise from above. I've always tried to book my cabin under other cabins figuring that's the best way to avoid alot of noise above the cabin, but I booked a guarantee because that's all they had when I booked. I'm hoping that it won't be a problem. Anyone ever been in this or similar cabin on EOS?
I've seen people write about needing egg crates and asking for them as soon as you board. I've also read somewhere that they changed the bedding on EOS so would that make it so you don't need the egg crates?
Thanks for any help!
Cindy

What is the deal with the egg crates? Never heard about this before. Bob

You don't have egg crates in the GS. They have upgraded linens and the top of the bed has a feather mattress top. I'm not sure what you heard, but for the amount of money you are spending on that cabin, you won't get egg crates.

Thanks for the info about the bedding. I had read something about all the bedding being updated but wanted to make sure.

Still need to know if there is a noise problem from above in #1264. It seems like it is right below the solarium pool area or the whirlpool area. I have heard people complain about lounge chair noises, but was hoping this wasn't a problem in this cabin? Anyone have any info?

As a cruise agent, I try to warn people about being on Deck 10 - depending on the location of the cabin, you are likely to hear the moving of deck chairs and cleaning in the early morning hours, like 5 AM. I know from experience it has happened to me.

I don't really understand how all the more expensive suites are on deck 10, so your paying more money and you hear all kinds of noise? I'm not sure what is above our cabin, but I was hoping someone who has had it before would let me know how much noise there really is. Anyone out there know about #1264?

We were on the 10th floor, as well as several peop;le we met on the cruise and nobody complained of noise from above. Not once did I hear anything at all, except my noisy neighbors who kept trying to get into our room through the adjoining door thinking it was the bathroom. Geezse

Unfortunately I do have a connecting room, but when I booked I only had a guarantee as a choice as I booked late and I guess the ship was pretty well filled. I'm still hoping that our room position under the whirlpool will be quiet. Hasn't anybody had this cabin before?

We generally try to book cabins with cabins above and below. However, last year we in a JS under Chops. Generally it was fine but we did hear bumping that we think was the moving of chairs and tables during cleaning early in the AM and very late at night. But the DW always brings her white noise box and that pretty much negated the noise. You may want to try a white noise box/system/unit. Sharper image and Brookstones both have good ones.

My sil/niece had this cabin when we cruised New England this summer. We opened the door to connect with my mother's cabin

We had 3 GS booked on this cruise all right next door to one another and NONE of us complained about noise from above. Didn't hear a thing.

You won't need egg crates either. The linens and bedding are WONDERFUL and you'll be rocked to sleep as a plus!

Enjoy your GS and cruise!

Thank you so much for all the info. I was hoping that someone had the same cabin (#1264) and didn't hear anything because I was getting concerned about what I had been reading about not choosing cabins on deck 10 on EOS and only picking a cabin that has cabins above and below it. I have read on other boards also that you hear scratching of chairs early in the morning when the crew is getting things ready. So thank you Dottie for letting me know that your niece had this cabin and noise was not a problem.

Hey Dottie,

Do you know how the pull out couch /bed was? Also, is the bed two twins pushed together? From the picture it doesn't look all that nice.

Thank you.......

I have had aft balcony cabins a few times on deck 10 and never heard any noise. Then again, I am a great sleeper and just enjoy listening to the waves while sleeping. Bob

Our kids slept on the sleeper/couch and it must have been fine. They slept like rocks and never compained.

Yes the bed is two smaller beds put together but you'll never know it. They put a pad (mattress cover) over the split and you never feel it. Honestly.

You'll be fine.

Does anyone know if that is the case with a O.S. The two twins pushed together. My past cruise I had an O.S. and I don't recal that. I thought it was just 1 king size bed.

Thanks Dottie for the answer on the G.S.

Royal, that's what you're supposed to think, it's a King bed. The padding they put down works

Well now I'm really starting to get excited. A GS with no noise, extra perks, great bedding and last night I found my DH's passport. It was really stupid of me, but I thought it was gone and we filled in new papers and finally went and had his photos taken yesterday, and last night I asked him to look in the car for a gift I had purchased yesterday. He looked and didn't find the purchase (which was sitting in the kitchen) but did find his passport. So now we have 4 really bad photos, but don't have to send in all the filled out papers (2 forms when you have lost it), and we don't have to worry about bringing his birth certificate, and all the info I filled in an RCCL online check-in is correct.

Have you posted your question on any other web message boards? Maybe someone who doesn't frequent this board can answer your question about your GS 1264

Dottie,
Your answer was not invisible to me. I was waiting for someone to give me a definite answer as to the noise in cabin #1264. Others did try to help with rooms that were on deck 10, but each room can be different depending on what exactly is above you.

Cindy, I was referring to AF1, not you. I know you saw my response cause we've answered one another several times

It's all good.

I know Dottie, I just wanted you to know I appreciated your answering my question on that exact cabin. I've gotten several answers on another board from stay away from deck 10 to "no problem" except none of them were that cabin and I was sure that depending on where on deck 10 depends on whether there is noise or not.
I have a question about the concierge? We are traveling with my mom and her friend, will they be allowed to go to the suites lounge with us? What do you need to show to get into the lounge? How about getting tickets for the ice show? Can I ask the concierge to get 4 tickets for us?

The Concierge is there to work for you. I have forgotten the guys name but he was AWESOME! Don't hesitate to call for anything!

Yes he will get the ice show tickets for you, no standing in the LONG line!!!

My brother was not in a suite and was not allowed in the lounge. No biggie he was just curious.

You will need your cabin key to open the door, it's locked. That's all you'll need I think. I never went in but Dh used it

:o cindypam-we have 1564&1568 on NOS-sister ship in a few weeks...please get back with the noise answer after you have cruised-know we will love the extra room but hope we don't have the "noise spoiler "from deck chairs on 11!-we have your position-only the other side.
