Default When is the best time to book an Alaskan cruise?

I'm looking at the cruise Rhapsody of the Seas, setting sail on May 15, 2009. They have a special military discount right now but I was wondering if they will have better sale prices around Thanksgiving or Christmas. This is my first cruise so I don't know if I should go for it or hold out and wait for a better price. Sale price is $499 for interior and Large Interior staterooms.

You can book when you feel is the best time. But the earlier you book the better is your selection of a cabin. RCI doesn't seem to encourage Guarantee cabins We usually book about 6 to 8 months ahead or more.

First of all you can't get an Alaskan cruise over Thanksgiving or Christmas. Also if you can afford an ocean view or balcony stateroom I would get that becuase with all the cool things you will see in Alaska you will want that. A lot of people say July is the best time to go becuase it is warmer. I am taking an Alaskan cruise in 2009 and I am going over 4th of July.

I think they where asking if prices for purchasing a cruise will be better at Thanksgiving or Christmas.

For Alaska, the earlier the better, if you really want to go, book it now, but keep in mind the May 15th it will still be on the colder side, the prices go up for July and August..

The only thing, if they have kids and don't want to take them out of school.

We don't have kids, it's just me and my husband and my grandparents. We are choosing May 15th because my husband is in the military and we have to time it between deployments. I've just wasn't sure if cruises go on sale during the winter for the next season. Last year when we booked a plane flight to Peru, we booked 4 months in advance and apparently that was way too far in advance because the prices dropped considerably after we paid. I wasn't sure if cruises work the same way.

Prices usually go down at the last minute. This means 90 days before the cruise. The only problem is they are usually the most or least expensive cabins. Their location might not be the best .

The only thing with the airfare it is just luck. If you book it early it might go down, but if you say the price will go down and don't book it might go up. So if you find a good price I would just book it.

I was looking this time last year for a 08 Alaska cruise, very few deals if any. For some reason, these cruises do sell, so they don't have an abundance of available cabins. If you see one that looks good to you, go ahead and grab it.
