Favorite Cruise Line

Since I have never cruised before I am wondering what the best cruise line is. I am not taking children on this cruise so take that in mind. Love my grandbabies but this cruise is just for Nanna. I am taking the GC on a trip to the Smoky Mountains in June. But this is just for me....Thanks for the input. I have done some research and think RCCL is for me.

I think RCI is a wonderful choice..the newer, largers ships have so much to offer...and the great thing is, you can do as much as you want, or do nothing, but it's there if you want it....I sailed the Freedom...

The ice show was wonderful, this surprised me, as, I thought I would not enjoy it...they have rock climbing, the flow rider, both great if you are in good shape.....miniature golf.....the promenade is the people watching area..cafes, bars, shops, and parades will give you lots to see and ado..great pools too.

The entertainment was good, and, you won't leave one dinner hungry:) Enjoy!

The reality is that there is no one "best" cruise line. Rather, each cruise line has a distinct personality and style that is a great match for some people and not such a great match for others. Further, by posting your querry on a board that's dedicated to one cruise line, you probably will hear from a lot of that line's loyal fans whose opinion might not match yours.

When people who are new to cruising ask me to recommend a cruise line, I usually suggest buying a guidebook to cruise lines and cruise ships (all of the major travel guides including Berlitz, Fodor's, and Frommer's have them) at a local bookstore and reading the descriptions of the various lines to see which sounds like the best match, then going with that line. Here, it's important to read the descriptions of all of the cruise lines because you'll find tidbits about one buried in the write-up of another.

But if you have already done some research and concluded that Royal Caribbean International (RCI) is a good fit for you, why not give it a try?

Norm.

OH my Goodness. You are right. I did post on the RCI Form! What a goof! I did a lot of research and this one did impress me the most. It is Liberty OTS. And it was going to the port of calls that I thougth I would enjoy the most! Thanks for the response as all imput is needed. I want to make this my trip of a life time. I wish Hubby would go but he just isn't interested. But a fun Girl trip will be great!

[Hi Crane,
Gosh, sure with your husband would re-consider, I think he really may enjoy it. In fact, most cases, the husgands are reluctant to cruise and they end up being the ones that want to book another, go figure??

You really can't go wrong with Liberty of the Seas, some of the best entertainment on water and lots of shipboard activities daily.

Just pick an itinary that suits you and have a ball!

Not this time but I will keep it in mind if I get to go on another one! LOL. I hope when I come home and tell him how much fun it was he will want to go on one with me. If not then who knows..................

as has been said, each to his own. everyone has a preference.

i prefer Carnival but also really like Royal. there are many, many things Carnival does better IMO but Royal also provides an awesome vacation. i haven't sailed any other major lines so these are the only two i can help you with :)

Did two sailings on her and there will be a third! :D

I've cruised Carnival, Princess, and Royal Caribbean. I've had a wonderful time on all of my cruises. There are more similarities than differences in these lines. I hope to try some of the other lines, also. I don't think you can go wrong cruising on any of these three. :D

cranejwr November 14th, 2008 11:41 PM

:D I picked RCCL this time because of the ports that they are going to. I know it is a bit pricey but this seemed to have what I wanted. My cuz went with NCL and had a great time. I was really interested in the free style cruising but maybe next time.... Thanks for the input!

Just based on the sheer number of "RCI" posts on the boards, compared to the other lines, I think "RCI" is still doing quite well.

Hot Nail November 16th, 2008 10:00 AM

I agree with the others. There is no single best line. I am in my early 30s and have cruised all the major lines except for Holland America and I think they all have many good and one or two not so good points. I prefer Carnival and RCCL to the others but I would not pass up a cruise on any line if it is the right deal. I have had better cruises than others but I have never had a "bad" cruise. Have a ball!!!!!!!!!!!

You can't go wrong with the Liberty OTS. If I could talk to your husband, I wuold tell him that he has no idea of what a beautifull vacation a cruise can be.
