Default What is a hump?

Good Morning, I have a rather silly question; I keep reading about hump cabins on these boards. What in the world are these rooms.....

Good question! When I first heard about "hump cabins" I was totally confused. Actually it is very simple... If you look down ths side of several of Royal Caribbean's ships, Brilliance, Voyager, Freedom class you will see a "hump" or bulge about halfway or 3/4 back from the bow. The cabins in this area are called hump cabins. The cabins are the same size of the others in the general area but the balconies are large by the size of the hump.

Debs123,

Sorry, I hit the post key before I was finished...

Take a look at the deck layouts of say, Deck Seven on the Mariner of the Seas. You will see cabins 7612 - 7626 and 7312 - 7326. They at "Hump" cabins! These are prised by many folks due to the slightly larger balconies for no extra price!

Oh I see it now. Debs123 thanks for asking I was wondering to. Are these cabins by the glass elevators?

Thanks for the info, I amon FOS in Sept 2009 and have a balconey roomon deck six. It seems from the layout map it is in the middle of the ship. Probably not a " hump cabin then ."

Happy cruising everyone

Another nice feature about the hump cabins is, when standing at the rail, you can look directly down to the ocean rather than some metal overhang. We have never noticed larger balconies and if you get a slightly curved one, then it is a little smaller. This has been our experience. We are doing another on the Mariner.

CA Cruiser brings up another benefit to certain hump cabins... you can look down the side of the ship. (And not have to stick your head waaay out there and end up looking your nieghbor in the eye...)

Hump cabins are the greatest especially if the are located on deck 10, mid-ships, port side. 8)
