I am sailing on Mariner of the Seas on Feb.22, 2009. I booked in May, 08 an E2 catagory room at $1199 pp, the price of the cruise has gone down in increments and is currently at $749 pp for my catagory room. Royal Caribbean has honored each price drop saving me a total of $900. Keep an eye on the price even after you book, hopefully you can save a few bucks.
Isn't it wonderful!! We, too, saved a lot on our next 2 RCI cruises, especially the TA next November. We saved so much we bumped up to a Jr. Suite. We thought with 6 days crossing to Ft Lauderdale that would be a nice way to enjoy it. The deletion of the fuel charges helps a lot too!

With the economy the way it is and ships not filling up expect price drops on certain sailings.
Keep checking your booked sailing everyone.

Royal. I check Royal Caribbeans website a couple of times a week and go to reservations as if i'm booking a new cruise. My catagory was also sold out but apparently their were some cancellations and the price went down along with a residency special.
Royal, when you say your cabin is sold, that would be to you or do you mean there are no more cabins in your "category" available. Try calling RCI and check. We just called and changed cabin on our May 09 cruise because while checking online, all of a sudden there were more and better cabin locations opened up. These cabins were not availabe last week when we checked. They told us they would let us know if there is a price decrease but I will still check regularly just in case.

Yes, there are no more cabins in my catagory available...I booked a g.s. and they are all sold out. So there is no way of checking if price dropped..also sold out for O.S.
Royal,
We are booked on that same cruise. We were told to call every so often to see if the price of our rooms have dropped. So if you cant find it online ot much has dropped for the last couple weeks but I am guessing they might in January when all payments are due and lots of people cancel. At least that is what we were told.

My cabin category - D1 Quad - is sold out and there have been no quad balcony cabins for a while. No price drops, and since it is spring break, I don't expect one. If it happens, nice surprise!

Still checking and it show N/A for my cabin...I think the only cabins left are the inside one's. So there is noway for me to know if the price has dropped for my suite.
I just wanted to thank all the contributors to this thread, I just got a $340 refund for our cruise that is coming up March 1st! I couldn't believe that they give you money back!
Great forums by the way, I've learned tons of helpful advice to get ready for our first cruise. Thanks!
You guys rock, i just checked online and our price went down so i called this afternoon and they refunded us $400 (£284 we are in the UK) AND credited the room with $170 which was something to do with the fuel suppliment reduction!
Thank you so much for all the fabulous tips and ideas.
We have booked a 4 day on Enchantment of the Seas for July 2009 and have noticed that there is still a lot of availability. I keep checking the prices but no drops yet. Anyone have any idea on how these short cruises book, is it usually last minute?? Or will they eventually have to drop the prices to get the cabins booked and I might get a little refund??
