Default Does SJU-ORF repo require passport?

Hey guys, I've got a quick question for you.

My dad and I are taking the San Juan-Norfolk curise on the Granduer. Are passports required for this cruise? I've looked on the DHS website, and it is very vague. I've got mine, so that's no biggie.

We're not returning to the originating port, but it's at least US-US.

What are the ports of call? If any of them are not US based then yes take your passport.

Ports are St. Thomas., St. Maarten, Tortola, and Bermuda.

This is before the June 1 cutoff, by the way.

If it is before June 1, a passport isn't required, but highly recommended! What would be required is proof of citizenship and proof of ID. So a government issued picture ID and a certified original copy of birth certificate and/or naturalization papers would do. Which also are exactly what you need for a passport.

If it it, then that's a relief, but like I said, it's very vague, and everything I've read so far has been about closed-loop voyages.

In the mean while, I'm going to try and get him to at least renew his passport, or get a passport card.

Take it anyway. After I started cruising with mine I wish I had gotten one years before I did. It makes travel so much easier and the check in is much faster.

Oh, for sure use the passports, the only way to travel these days.

Do yourself a favor and get a passport. So much easier getting through security at the airport. TSA will get you through quicker with it. Bob

I actually have my passport, but have not used it for international travel yet (aside from a previous cruise, but no stamps there, plus it's a Job requirement for me.) It's my father who has let his lapse, if you re-read the OP.

Mine expired last year, took less than 2 weeks to get a new one. Have your father get a new one, very easy and quick. You can even print out the application on-line and have it filled out and ready to go.
