Read a bad review for our cruise ship (Jewel) :(

Whilst looking around on the internet this evening seeing what tips i could pick up I stumbled across a really bad review for our ship (Jewel).

Know i know that everyone has a different opinion and that we don't all feel the same about food etc but it really worried me as i have read lots of positive things about the ship.

If anyone out there has been on Jewel and loved it please let me know so i don't spend the next few days worrying that its all going to be a nightmare!

We have sailed the Jewel twice, a transatlantic and a 10 day Caribbean.
We enjoyed both cruises. The ship is clean the food is very good (our opinion ) and the staff very good. I'm sure you will enjoy your cruise.

Hannah,
Reviews are, after all, mostly opinions. And like noses, we all have one. 8) And remember, that the written reviews are one persons impression out of the thousands who sailed on the ship... even on the exact same journey! I venture to say, that those of us who post, even among the regulars with large post counts, are in the minority as far as reporting their experience on a message board. I venture to say that the majority of cruisers on a voyage have little or no knowledge of the existence of cruising message boards.

Reviews are worth reading, they are not worth fretting over.

If something jumps out of you - ask for more feedback from the members here!

If there was a serious issue, there would be multiple threads and multiple responses in a very short time.

IMHO, it is beneficial to read the "good and the bad" - gives you perspective.

We have also sailed on her twice, Canadian/New England and Baltic 12 days, and loved it. We would not hesitate to sail here again! Like you stated, a review is just their opinion. IMHO, if you have a problem or situation you don't like, take action to make it better. Have a great time!

We JUST got off the Jewel last week.

It was one of the best ships we have been on! The ship is in top notch shape, the food was EXCELLENT, the Entertainment was EXCELLENT, and the service was fabulous.

We were on the Jan 19th sailing to the Panama Canal (returned on 1-31-09)

Do not look any further for a good ship. You have one in your hands right now!

Enjoy

Its been a few years since I was on Jewel, but she's an absolutely beautiful ship. I wouldn't worry about the reviews you've read, take them with a grain of salt and go with the feeling, that you will have a wonderful time, and I bet you do.

Thank you everyone for your soothing and calming words.

We have been so excited about going and to suddenly read a bad review wobbled me a bit.

So here on in I'm only having positive thoughts about our fab cruise through the Panama Canal!

I got your email at work, but I can't get on my at home (new software from Comcast).

But I am sure you will absolutely love the Jewel. As I said, we have been on 3 of the 4 Radiance class ships. All are the same......EXCELLENT.

The Banana plantations are a great excursion to see how they prepare the bananas for shipping. It is ALL done right in front of your eyes. even kids would like this.

More later.

I never pay much atention to bad reviews because some people will allways find something to complain about.

Truer words were never spoken....

If you go on a cruise intent to find everything that is wrong, you will have the miserable time that you deserve. (and these people DO exist)

If you go on a cruise intent on have a great time and enjoying all there is to enjoy, you will have a wonderful time.

Have a GREAT cruise!!!!

My Husband and I have been on over 20 cruises and the 8 day eastern caribbean on the Jewel a few years ago is still one of my favorite trips ever. The Jewel was beautiful, clean and the crew was great.

The Jewel also has a Putt Putt course on the top deck. It is a fun course and you never get tired of it. Us big kids played it several times. The wife was determined to beat me (at best, she tied me)

The specialty restaurants are fantastic. For me, it is too much food. I find the regular dinning restaurants to be 5-Stars for my palate. But it is definitely a nice treat for that price.

The evening performances were excellent. Not sure that kids would like the shows that were on our trip, however.

We did not have a Karyoke (sp) contest (probably poor participation) and we did not have a Talent competition (which is always fun to watch). Also due to lack of participation.

Each cruise might vary from trip to trip, but the overall rating of Jewel is NUMBER 1 !!!!!!!!

Enjoy

I could be skeptical if I only read good reviews , :!:

Let's put aside the fact that there are some people who find fault with everything. There are indeed rational people who have had negative experiences and post them to make others aware.

The important thing is not to get excited over one bad review, but to watch for a trend. Knowing what some people didn't like about something can actually help you avoid it when you are on your cruise.

Every ship and every line has good weeks and bad weeks in certain areas. A bad review this week could actually be a positive thing because it gives the line a chance to correct it for the next. Keep in mind that the cruise lines pay close attention to what is said on these boards and if they read bad reviews they will definitely look into it!

We always say, a bad review is an opportunity... not a death sentence.

I live in Warnemünde and had passengers last week from the Jewel on my tour and THEY LOVED IT! They were having a grand time and said that everything onboard was fantastic and the ship was lovely.

So...from their mouths to mine... go and have a great time!

Jewel OTS

We've been on the Jewel five times, and as you can see from my signature, we're booked for several more cruises on Jewel. :D

If we didn't love the ship, we wouldn't keep going back......

yahootelemundo:

I'm skeptical of anything you post :(

seadog2 July 14th, 2009 08:46 PM

DW and I work too hard and we wait very long for our cruise to come around. So when it does, man I'm there. No time for complaints or fault finding I'm too ready to have a good time.
