I read on another site that Bank Of America has credits that can be used for a free cruise on RCCL. Does anyone know anything about this. I have BOA but I don't know anything about this option and I am on FOS in September if I could go for free BONUS....any help appreciated.
Thanks

By using the RCI Visa card which is through the Bank of America. You get 1 point for every dollar spent on the card, and 2 points for every dollar spent on the card with RCI itself. As you build points, you can redeem the points for various rewards, including free cruises.
Here is a link to a .pdf file that explains the program:
Majesty of the Seas - 10/03 & 02/07 & 11/08
Enchantment of the Seas - 10/04 & 10/11
Mariner of the Seas - 10/05
Vision of the Seas - 10/06 & 09/07
Carnival Liberty - 10/07
Adventure of the Seas - 9/08
Ruby Princess - 12/09
Voyager of the Seas - 9/10
Carnival Spirit - 11/10
Oasis of the Seas - 9/13

Dont be late on your credit card payments or they will remove all your points
Also, if have to use the points within 5 years or they expire without BOA letting you know. And if you redeem them, the certificates for RCCL are on valid for 6 months.

thank u Dinba , thats new to me , wow , Now I dont see any benefits for getting the roral caribbean credit card
I love our RCI Visa cards... I don't carry a balance so I don't care what the interest rate is and we manage to drum up around $250 - $300 worth of free onboard cabin credits for each year that we go on a cruise!
I can't imagine why anyone would think that free money is not a good benefit!

I don't carry a balance either like Mike and Suz; that doesn't mean we don't use the card. We just pay it off at the end of the month! $250-$300 is alot to use onboard. Thanks for the tip!!!!!
The Royal Caribbean cards are nothing new, have had one for years, just different banks. I've yet to use the points, I should look into that one of these days...I could have a free cruise :-)
depending on when you get your card, you might get 10,000 pts ($100) or 15,000 ($150), toward your cruise, for free. Be sure you use your card within 30 days, or you will lose those "come on" pts. That happened to me, so I cancelled and got another one, but then the "come on" was 10,000 and I orginally had the deal with 15,000. Not very smart for a credit rating because you will have two inquiries in a short time, but I'm too old to be concerned about that. I didn't know about that 5 yr thing -- thanks for the heads up.
I used 75,000 of my 82,000 points for a free cruise back in November of '08. It was great. The cash value turned out to be about $1,100. I used the certificate and then paid the difference and upgraded to a JS.
We just cashed in 35,000 points from the RCI card. I will be applying it all towards OBC on our Europe cruise in 2010. I believe the rule is you have 6 months to use the certificates and apply them toward a cruise or a reward of some kind. But the cruise doesn't have to be within the 6 months time period, just booked and deposited.

Back in Janurary the wife and I sailed free on a 7 day cruise out of Galveston. We have the card and pay off each month avoiding the interest. If you like to cruise, which we do, might as well use one that gets you free cruises if you can avoid the interest payments each month.

I use my RC Visa card all the time and pay off balance each month also. I have 23,577 points right now. I am also using it onboard for my next two cruises to earn double points! I will have to look into if I can cash them in for anything yet!

Good point. I'd just be scared that something might come up and I would have to cancel -- you lose all your points, then, I believe. I use mine for OBC, also, but I don't "cash them in" until after final payment.
I have almost 60,000 points at present and debating whether to keep saving or redeem 50,000 of them for a free OV cabin on a 4 day cruise
Just me, but I always cash in points as soon as I am eligible for something free -- hotel room, airline ticket, cruise OBC. I've stopped trusting that the points won't be taken away, expecially in this economy. Airlines change their rules, cc's change their rules -- so I get it as soon as I can. I've even bought points, like for a hotel, to bring me up to where I needed to be rather than continue to accumulate.

Yes, we do run the risk of losing the points if we have to cancel. We didn't really have a choice. We had to cancel the card because BofA didn't like the fact we had 2 different BofA cards and threatened to reduce our limit from $16,000 to $9,000 and up the interest from 9% to over 16% if we didn't close one of the cards. So we choose to close the RCI card and keep the card with the FF miles on it. When we closed the RCI card, we had to take the 35,000 points certificates and had 6 months to apply them toward a cruise.
We were never late on any CC payments or any payments, but the credit crunch caused BofA to take this action. Pissed me off, but nothing I could do about it, had to close one of our cards.
Before Yahoo says something, it was BofA that did this, not RCI. Other friends of ours that also had multiple BofA cards had the same thing happen to them, so I guess I shouldn't feel too bad.
