Default Ordering wine for your stateroom

Is it a good idea to order wine for our stateroom prior to boarding? (We don't think the wine packages are a good deal for us, there's no way we'd go through 5 bottles in a week!) But it would be nice to have a bottle in our room.
Just wondering if it's cheaper to order before? Our issue is that we are Canadian and the minimum price quoted in the Gift Brochure is about $35CDN per bottle and if we wait until we board we'll have to pay USD (likely through credit card, which adds fees on the exchange) What are the USD prices for a bottle purchased on board?
Also....the brochure says if delivered to our stateroom there is a corkage fee? But if delivered to the dining room corkage fee is waived? Somehow doesn't make sense to me, thought it would be the opposite.
Advice would be appreciated!

Hmm..if you take a bottle of wine you have delivered to your cabin to the DR youd have to pay the corkage fee.....

BUT if you drink it in the cabin, no biggie.

You CAN get the package and bring a bottle to your cabin...like if you don't finish it...

we just did a 12 nighter on Explorer got the 7 bottle package and STILL had 1 left to bring home ....(lucky us, we drive to the port)

now,the platinum package for 7 bottles is the lowest per bottle charge...and that's what we get...works out to 24.00 (approx) USD.

and some of the per bottle prices for the wines on that package are over 30 bucks so you can do well....

as for the exchange rate....i can't be of much help-sorry...

but the prices are the same (well....in USD they are...for you, they'd be the same-plus/minus the exchange rate if that makes sense!)

hope that helped a little
