Default Pre-Cruise Port Canaveral Hotels

Does anyone have any suggestions for a good hotel to stay at in the Port Canaveral area? My husband and I are looking to fly into the Orlando airport the day before our cruise but I would rather stay at a hotel closer to the port. Also, does anyone know if its easy to get transportation (cab or shuttle) from the Orlando airport to Port Canaveral hotels, and what the cost might be? As best as I can tell, Orlando seems to be the most convenient airport to the cruise port, but even so, its still not that close.

Thanks!!

Look for a hotel in Cocoa Beach. I like the La Quinta Inn in Cocoa Beach. Virtually all the hotels in Cocoa Beach contract to a local shuttle service, usually cost around $4 or $5 a person to get you to the ship the morning of your departure.

As for getting from Orlando to Cocoa Beach, I have used a company called Spaceport Transport. You can just google search for them, or they can be found in the ground trasportation section of the Port Canaveral web site. They are very reliable and reasonably priced. A round trip from the airport to the hotel, and from the ship back to the airport is somewhere around $88 for up to 3 people. I've used them myself and for many of my clients, they have always been on time.

We stayed at the Country Inn and Suites in Port Canaveral in January before our cruise. It was a very nice clean hotel only a few minutes to the port. They had a shuttle van at I think five bucks a person to the port there was also different times they ran the van so you can decide when you want to get there. There was some really great places to eat on the water that was only a couple minutes taxi ride away. We used airportability for transportation and I would not recommend them we were left waiting at the airport for 45 min before pick-up not very professional but if you call the hotel you decide to book with they can give you some transportation references. This hotel also has cruise parking if you arrive by car which is way cheaper than parking at the port. Enjoy your cruise.

I also would opt for the La Quinta in Cocoa Beach

We took a cruise out of Port Canaveral in OCT and flew into Orlando as well. We did alot of research and found that the cheapest and most convenient thing to do was to rent a car (one-way) at the airport. We stayed at the Doubletree in Cocoa Beach and the next morning dropped the car at the rental place. It was cheaper to get the car for 1 night than to take the shuttle. I believe the rental car agencies have a shuttle to take you to the port FREE after you turn the car back in. There are great places to eat and don't forget to visit the original Ron Jon's Surf Shop- If you have a car, it makes getting around ALOT easier! Good luck!
