I've dined at the Captain's table twice, both times Capt. Erik on Explorer (separate cruises). Two women I became friends with on my roll call lobbied to get the invitations--both are Diamond Plus members. One went through the hotel director and the other went through the dining room manager. Both can have people added to the list. We got the official group photo and a copy of the menu to take home.

The dinner was o.k. but what I really liked was the bridge tour that all of us got invited to both times. Now that was big fun.

We were on Monarch of the Seas over Christmas and had dinner at the captain's table with the hotel director, whose name escapes me at the moment. We LOVED it! We think it was the Loyalty Ambassador who got us the invite because we had an issue with our loyalty status. At our table there was a couple who had been on 50+ cruises with RCCL, an elderly lady (who mostly talked to the hotel director, so I don't know her story), and a couple who were engaged and it was their first cruise. I do not really believe that the number of cruises you've been on determines who gets an invite. I believe that there are certain staff members who make recommendations to the captain (or his asst), and it is decided from there. We had a great time!
