Default Johnny Rockets charge

Does the Johnny Rockets charge of $4.95 include everything such as milkshakes and soda ?

I think you will find there is a charge for sodas unless you purchased the soda card.

You get lunch/dinner. If you are a repeat cruiser and a crown and anchor member you will get a coupon to eat there for free.

For $4.95 you get burgers, fries, dogs, chili, ice tea, this includes tip. I feel it is a bargin. The same meal at JR onshore would be 12-14 dollars with tip.

AF1-most people go have a shake also, so when all is said and done, you are up to $10 or so, not a bargain when damn near all other food is free on the ship.

Don't get me wrong, Rockets has a great burger, its a nice break from Windjammer, etc, but it can add up if you have a couple kids and they want to go there a couple times during the week. At the end, you have $75-100 in Rockets bills. But everyone has a choice, right?

We are D+on RCCL. Been advised that the new C&A coupon book no longer has a free J Rocket visit. Instead, there is a 2 for 1 milk shake. Is it worth it? That is really personal opinion.

So, another one - no, to me it isn't worth it.

Questions (cuz I just can't help myself)

So, if you go to JR for lunch and then decide later in the day that you'd like a sundae --- you get charged again?

Also, why can't you pay for one person to go in --- order four burgers, four fries, etc, bring food out on deck and feed family? Or is food not allowed to be taken from the area?

JR is only open for certain hours of the day, not 24 hours. The charge is per visit, all you can eat. I have gone into JR later for a milkshake and they didn't charge me for a visit, just for the milkshake.

JR waiters serve all the food in JR to guests seated in the restaurant. On some ships, there is an outside JR section, but I don't believe there is any carryout from JR.

I don't know about now, but in the beginning........when there was NO surcharge at JR's my young son used to stop there and get burgers and fries to take back to the cabin with him. ( he had a curfew) where he would watch movies and call room service for anything else he wanted.

But...there always was a charge for shakes.

JR's does not thrill me but we always go because we have coupons. I actually like JR's in the casino here better. Nevertheless, we will not be going to JR's if they are charging.

Another cut back. Are the so called coupon books even worth opening. Certainly doesn't sound like.

First the cut out the free pic. We used to use that and buy at least 3 more pics. They didn't have the coupon our our Independance cruise and we didn't buy any pics. Their loss.............

No no JR's ........... we won't go ...........their loss.

What about the free drink coupon? Is it still there?

Default Johnny Rockets

Jonny Rockets is a bargain...even if there is a charge. The food is good, the music great and the entertainment is fun...almost as fun as reading some of the posts about the JR charge....

We usually make one visit to JR on the ship with or without a coupon.

Does RCL ships with a JR in them have other places to get a free non JR burger? Or is JR the only place on the ship to get a burger?

YOu can get burgers and fries - usually at the pool area.

I don't like the buns in JR's therefore I only go there to make DH happy. I don't make a habit if paying for something I don't particularly like.

We do go to Chops and Portofino's though. I like their food.

We were on the mariner last year and couldn't find another place to get a burger and fries. I also found that the food in the cafe promenade was not that great almost like they do it that way on purpose so you will go to JR, if the buffet is not open. Kinda sneaky if you ask me. JR does have the best onion rings though. Worth 4.95 on their own

I gotta tell ya, the price is reasonable. Now for those who don't want to go just because it's not free, than by all means don't go. That will free up a booth for my group of 15, who will be going to JR on Voyager next week. But seriously folks, You can go to McDonalds and drop $5 in a minute; here you get burger, fries, chili, (which I love), and yes the onion rings, there is no limit on how much you eat and the staff they entertain you while you eat. So for me, it's worth the show. Have fun and get out there and see the world.
Cheers :|

Of course, it's to each his own. But man, to me there is so much good, free food on a cruise that I almost find it amusing that people go pay for a burger and a shake. Maybe someday I'll try Chops or a specialty pay restaurant...But a hamburger that you can get out on the pool deck almost all day long?? Don't think so.
