Okay I can help here. DO NOT CHANGE YOUR MONEY AT THE CURRENCY OFFICE IN ITALY THEY OVERCHARGE!!!! I'm not yelling at you, I'm still mad how much I got ripped off going to the office.

Use the ATMs to charge money, it's much cheaper. We exchanged money for Euros before the cruise about $500 worth. Once in Italy we visited ATMs to get more Euros and we used credit cards. We didn't do the traveler checks, to me they seemed like more trouble then they were worth. Check the currency for each of your ports, they may not all take Euros. I hope the helps. Also we wore money belts under our clothes to protect it from pick pockets.

I second Katlady, use atm machines. They will give u a decent exchange rate and only charge maybe $2-3.

We got euros and pounds from our bank to take with us. We used it for small purchases but used our credit card when possible. Be sure to inform your CC company before you leave that there will be foreign purchases. Capital One does not charge a currancy exchange rate either. Any left over foreign money we left in the hotel or taxi tips.
