DO NOT BRING ALOT OF CLOTHES!!!!! Underpack is my best advice; you can always wash a shirt/pants onboard. Plus, dry cleaning service is great. Also, bring your own clock with an extension cord. They never have enough outlets and they never have clocks in the room.
Rule #1 about packing clothes for a cruise-
Pack everything you think you will need -
THEN - put half of it back and you will be all set !!

I went on the Carnival Freedom. We went to Livorno. We took a tour out to Pisa it's a leaning tower with a flea market. We didn't climb the tower, it might have been cooler if we had. I probably would not do this tour again. But I had to get the "picture" you know that one. This tour did give us time to shop in Livorno and the prices were much better there then anywhere else in Italy.
In Malaga we took the Neja (SP?) cave tour it was a disappointment we wanted to see the cave drawings that talk about in the description; but they are in a part of the cave we were not allow to go to. We did hit the Piassco Musuem (I enjoyed that) it's walking distance from where the bus drops you off. When we went there was a long pier (miles long) and you took a bus to town. It's worth the money. There are some nice beaches there I wish we had checked out instead of the tour.
Lisbon I did on my own at the age of 18. My dad is from Portugal so we did a family trip that included Lisbon. This is a great site with information about Lisbon. http://www.golisbon.com/ If you are there at night see the Fados being played. http://www.golisbon.com/night-life/fado/

That is how you spell it. Nerja caves. The caves are wonderful, however, since I live in California near gold country we have caves over here. Since we went to see the cave paintings and not the cave itself we were disappointed. It was a long bus drive to not see cave paintings. The cave itself is very big with neat stalagmites and stalactites. So if you go to see an amazing cave you will not be disappointed.
Remember you might trip over a stalagmite and stalactites hang tight to the ceiling. Never touch a stalagmite or stalactites the oil in your hands stops the growth. If I remember correctly they don't allow you to use a flash on your camera as this also hurts the stalagmite and stalactites. In general it takes a century for a cubic inch of stalgmite or stalactites to grow. So when you are in the cave realize you are looking at something the took thousands of years to grow and is so delicate your hand can stop it from ever growing again. I do really like caves. There is something special about standing in a place the is so old.

huh? Not going to Florence? I skipped Pisa -- could see the tower in the distance, though. Florence was grand -- get your tickets to see the real David (replica exists in the square) on line before you go, if you change your mind. Train to Rome but lots to see, so maybe book a tour. Note holy days, as the Vatican could be closed. We met folks who actually crammed a great deal in their day -- impressed me! -- by using the public bus system. Heck, I waste so much time just trying to figure out maps, but the train stops at St. Peter's, a few blocks walk. Guard your valuables on the bus that makes the rounds of tour spots -- lots of pick pocketing, evidently.
Surprised at how much I liked Nice -- can take a train to Monte Carlo, but we didn't because of the Grande Prix. We took a tour and went to Pez, very unique.
Barcelona can be toured easily on the hoponhopoff bus. We took a tour up to the monestary -- can't remember the name at the moment -- where the black madonna is -- very beautiful. Be very careful in Barcelona, the pick pocket capitol of Europe -- read up on the types of situations you may encounter.

You can pick up the hop on hop off bus at termini(SP?) train station in Rome. It's a Red double decker bus and goes to most of the major tourist stops in Rome. You can hop off the bus at any stop then hop back on the bus. The bus has places to plug in headphone and come with an audio tour. Here is a link to information on the red bus. We did this it works great. http://www.trambusopen.com/index.cfm?Id=archeo
