Default Explorer of the Sea Problems?

Just got a call from RCCL they changed the itinarary for the May 14
bermuda and caribbian cruise. Would not give me a reason why it was changed. I have seen on this sight that the ship has problems.
Was wondering if anyone has been on the ship in the last month and
noticed any problems? Heard it has a bad vibration and can not get up to top speed. The changes are not to bad except the last stop at san juan
is pretty much a total lose. Any information wold be greatly appriciated.

Thanks Gene

Yes, earlier this year the Explorer OTS suffered a serious problem with one of her azipod propellers from a collision or fishing net or something like that. They plan on fixing the problem early next year when the Explorer goes into dry dock. Until then, they are keeping the speed down and changing some itineraries.

it hit a reef on the cruise before ours....and parts of it were removed on our 2/1 trip.....

it sails a little slower, yes ports may change...yes it can suck....but that's what happens....the alternative would be cancelling a bunch of cruises and trying to drydock early...not gonna happen as long as the ship is fit to sail....

if you go to webshots, and seach for me - megr1125 over there, i have a video of the prop and divers.......in st thomas.....

Our trip in 2 days was only delayed an hour and the explanation is the Right Whales that are migrating now in Atlantic.

We are on a 9 day, San Juan, St Thomas, D.R., Haiti.

Don't know if they are changing the longer trips.

Was on Explorer that left March 27th all our stops except san Juan were shortened by an hour each, San Juan had weird hours arriving at night after a day in St. Thomas and leaving the next morning at 11:30. The only explanation was a letter in our stateroom staing that the ship was sailing at reduced speeds. Didn't notice any unusual vibrations though, just some rough seas the last day.

Default Last Port

Hello Everyone

I would like to thank everyone for there replies. I talked to royal caribbian
and they said the boat is undergoing repairs and that is the reason for the
change in times. While i agree an hour time change for the other ports in not a big deal. We are arriving in San Juan at 10pm at night and leaving at 11:30am not leaving to much time to do anything but stay close to the boat. Does anyone have any suggetions as to what we can do in San Juan
that night in port such as a club close by or hot spot maybe some historical site to see. Suggestions for the morning would be great also. Possibly a beach close by for a morning swim. Any suggestions would be appriciated

Thanks Gene

there's a sheraton across the street with a casino....there are several clubs....

senor frogs, the parrot club, a hard rock (i think)

as for beach?? hmm......can't help there....i THINK the beaches are public so you could hop a cab to a hotel-say the SJ Marriott Resort and Stellaris Casino or one of the others..

One of the old forts is close by, within walking distance as well as shopping. There is also a Hacienda hotel, casino close as well as the Sheraton. We didn't go out at night but was out in the morning and was surprised at how much we were actually able to walk to. They also still did all of the shore excursions but they left really early.
