Just returned yesterday and wanted to pass along a few comments where this was the first time on this ship even though we've sailed 18 times on other RCCL ships.
The ship is every bit exciting and beautiful as anticipated. Although the selection of foods in the dining room were fair at best. Service was ok but starting June 1st the waiter will be responsible to double as the "bar waiter" for his tables. This process slows down the service for the food and has a chain reaction effect. It's done on the Grandeur and has meant an hour and 30 minute dinner will take an hour and forty five minutes. The waiters noramlly assigned to the dining rooms will be used elsewhere or when the new ships are open for bid will transfer. As I mentioned the quality and range of foods on the Liberty left a lot to be desired. "Chops" is a first class restaurant on board where each person pays $25.00 for a selection of meals. The filet is superb! the cost is well worth it and a good alternative from the dining room. Portofino's the other restaurant where you pay for your dinner ($25.00) was not as good as Chops.
The shows were horrible (RCCL dancers) making one wonder how some of these were thought up and felt that they would appeal to the average cruisers. Not so. RCCL needs to spruce this up as people left the showroom during the performance.
On this cruise the Diamond (C&A) Lounge was not over crowded and the two servers did a magnificent job making drinks for their guests. The Conscierge (Mario) and was marginally helpful when questions were asked about any topics.
