We will be sailing on the Brilliance July 9 out of Barcelona and are currently scheduled for the late seating (which I believe in the Med. is 915). We are a group of 12 and are looking at possibly doing MTD to let us eat a bit earlier. My wife and I along with a few others are not keen on eating so late. We do not want to be finishing dinner at 1130 when we go to bed 30 mins or so after that. How do we go about reserving a time for MTD? Do we do this before our trip or once we get there? Also is there a way to get the same waiters each day like you have on your regular seating? Thanks for your assistance.
We sailed on Brilliance in Feb09 and had a great experience with MTD. We could sign up right after we finished boarding. We did not have the same waiters each time, probably because we ate at different times each day.
They will ask you what time you want to eat each day, and have a table ready for you at that time. If you want to deviate they would like to know in advance, the day before.
It was only the two of us and we never had a problem being seated regardless when we showed up, or if we deviated from the scheduled MTD time or not. Most we had to wait for a table was 10 min.
It may be more difficult with a larger group, but if you keep the same MTD each day I think it will be smooth.
Elena is great - she will take care of you guys! All the waiters and wait staff was excellent!
We loved Brillianc so much - the shows were fantastic, the cruise director awesome. We booked another RCCL on Navigator and sailing from Civitavecchia in 3 weeks.
Have fun!
okay i understand with a large group they want to know the day before.
my question is are you seated with others with MTD or are you on your own? I would prefer to be seated with others as part of the fun of cruising is getting to know others over a meal.
I don't totally understand this MTD bull crap. I'd hate to have to guess what time I want eat dinner the next night rather than just know it's at 6:30 or 8:30
Onboard activities are scheduled around the main dining times soooooo; what are you really doing eating at an off hr?

When we said the med in May u could sign up for MTD in front of the main dining room. U could pick a time when u thought you would be eating; however, if u changed the time u wanted to eat the following night, u could wait up to 15 min for the wait staff to get everything ready. The bigger the group showing up the longer the wait; best thing to do would be find out what time your shore excursions get back and make a decision that morning. if the shore exrusion gets back to the ship at 6pm, u could set a dining time of 7pm. Most people I spoke with on our ship (Voyager of the Seas) liked the MTD. We chose late seating, we were seating and served by 8:45pm.

Just off Explorer and yes reservations at least the day before are recommmend. We tried to make a reservation one day in the morning for that evening for a 7pm dinner and it was not available so we did 6pm instead.
We were only two they told me with big groups it gets even harder.
From what I was told Freedom class ships have the whole fifth floor for Mytime dining. Other ships only have half of the fifth floor.
The best thing to do is book your dinner time the first day of the cruise for the whole week.
However I need to go by the compass to see what is going on that day and schedule dinner around activities.
