Wine packages ?

Does anyone know if buying a wine package ahead of time is cheaper than buying it when you board ? I've been looking on RCCL website and the package prices look pretty good--- compared to single bottle pricing--
Wondering if the pricing online will be the same as onboard ?
Open to any and all suggestions
Cheers

Gosh I hope so......last time I cruised, for Berringers white zin, for which I pay like $6.98 at home, I was charged $22.00 onboard..wow...so the 2 I drink, is quite high,,,, I am going to look at a package myself....

I always get the wine package ( 5 bottle gold ). It is the same price on board. I usually buy it on board. They will be in front of the Windjammer when you board. You will save a little.

We just got off the Mariner. We bought a 7 bottle diamond package that came to $ 27 a bottle. We bought it on the first day of the cruise, as they said it would only be available for purchase on that first day. We ran out of wine in the middle of the cruise and bought a 5 wine package for the same $ 27 per bottle price. We liked a particular champagne and a red wine. Both were on the wine list for $ 38. So that saved us $ 11 a bottle.

I've done the wine package before and was somewhat disappointed. The selection was not what I had hoped it would be. It did save use $, probably about 15%, but we were limited to wines we would not have normally choosen.

I don't mind paying a bit more for something I "know" I will enjoy as opposed to something they want me to drink.

Thanks for all the info---

I know the cruiselines need to make a profit but --as well as anyone eles that wants to stay in business-- the mark up sometime is so high it just turns me off from paying such high prices--- I like champagne- :o and Korbel is $8.49 a bottle back home--and on the ship it goes for over $35.00 a bottle----

I think I will look more closely at the wines that are offered ahead of time and buy one online------and if need be ? more if needed while onboard---after all-- its nice to share
cheers
