Default Port taxes??

We are taking our first cruise to the Bahamas with BCI next month and I have heard and read that there are port taxes. I know that government taxes are included in the price of the cruise but what about port taxes?

You have it backwards... port taxes are generally included in the brochure rate. "Government taxes and fees" are additional and are currently about $75 on a 7 night cruise.

A port tax is a head tax impossed by a local government for the operation of a port. It is included in the price you paid for your cruise. That is why the "fees" vary depending on the cruise. Each port has it's own charge and they vary wildly around the world. What you paid for your cruise includes multiple components; the Cruise Fare which is what you paid the cruiseline itself for the cruise, fees which include any surcharges like fuel and things like that, and governemnt taxes and port charges which are what the cruiselines are forced to collect from the passengers and pay to the governments and port authorities as required. All these components are included in what you have paid for your cruise.

Port taxes are not additional fees you would have to pay when you dock if that is what you are worried about. You already paid them when you paid for your cruise.
